Hi … my name is NEO and here are some things you should know about me:

First please don't be scared of adopting me due to my age. I'm active, love taking walks, energetic in a very good way, but not hyper. I recently had a senior blood panel which showed I'm extremely healthy and have a lot of time to devote to the perfect family. And my foster Mom just took me this week to have a dental. And at almost 13 yrs old, I still have all my beautiful teeth. My vet says I have a lot of life left in me, so let's get together and chat about making me a permanent part of your life and family!!!!

Breed: Cairn Terrier
Approximate age/birthdate: Nov 2003
Color: Black
Spayed/neutered: YES
Up-to-date on routine vaccinations: YES
Heartworm Status: Negative and on monthly preventative
Weight/size: 22lbs
Microchipped: YES
Housebroken: YES
Crate trained: YES, but my Foster Mom never puts me in a crate, I have great house manners.
Fenced yard required: NO
Jump fences: NO
Leash walk: YES
Obedience training: Unknown
Rides well in vehicles: YES

Personality: Very laid back, still has a lot of spunk and energy at times. Neo still loves to play with toys, especially those that squeak. But he can be possessive of those toys when another dog is around. Would do best in a family that is retired, we feel due to his age he wouldn’t do well being left alone for long periods of time. He will bark if left outdoors too long or if he wants to go out or eat. He’s used to a daily routine and does best if you can keep him on that.

Energy level: Low
Social with other dogs: Yes, but would do best as an only dog due to his age
Social with cats: NO WILL CHASE UNTIL HE’S OUT OF BREATH
Grooming: Please consider this if applying. This is a breed which needs regular brushing, bathing and grooming. Grooming would be needed about every 8-10 weeks.
Good with children: YES (foster family has 2 yr old grandson and they play constantly)

History: NEO belonged to a military family of which Dad had owned this dog prior to his marriage. They had to move and trusted him in the hands of a neighbor who said she wanted him. He was picked up by animal control for wondering around the neighborhood and was in awful condition. He was so matted he could hardly walk, his skin was bare, had sores and his coat was falling out.
Neo apparently didn’t do well with his owners leaving him and begin to pull his fur out. So the new owner thought it was okay to put him outside where he went back to his original home. Another neighbor called animal control due to his condition saying his owner would be sick over how he looked and was then being not cared for properly. There was no forwarding address to reach his original owner.

We took Neo in and he was absolutely in the worst shape we’ve seen in some time. We had him fully vetted, and have bathed him every other day to help with his sores and coat. It’s coming back so nicely and thick now. He is going for his first real groom this week, so I’m excited about his new look. The photos I’m posting now are NOT how he will look, but as you can see he has so much life in his eyes. He’s a loving dog and wants to be with people all the time.

WE DO REQUIRE A HOME WITH CHILDREN OVER 10. PERHAPS A RETIRED COUPLE WOULD LOVE TO ADD HIM TO THEIR FAMILY

If you think might be the perfect pet for you /family, please email PAWSAVER4U@GMAIL.COM for an application.

SSR DOES NOT ALLOW THE USE OF ELECTRIC/INVISIBLE OR UNDERGROUND FENCES OR SHOCK COLLARS OF ANY KIND. IF YOU ADOPT AND WE FIND THAT ANY OF THIS IS BEING USED, THE CANINE WILL BE TAKEN BACK INTO RESCUE.

We are an all-volunteer group, so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks, follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. We do NOT adopt to families with animals which have not been spayed/neutered.
When your application is approved, we will schedule a home visit. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all, an adoption contract to be signed, and there is an adoption fee to be paid.

Adoption fee is $ 125

All adopters must be 21 or older. Once the preliminary application is approved a home visit is required to complete the adoption process.
