Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This dog's fosterhome is located in: Nanuet, New York
Smokey was found tied to a fence at an FDNY firehouse in South Bronx, NY. The firemen took him in and tried to find his previous owners but no one came forward. So, one of the firemen decided to take him home to his family. He was wonderful with their infant daughter and three year old son. He is 2-3 years old, weighs 32 pounds, and is completely house trained. He has met a bunch of other dogs and has been great with them all. His energy level is high and he has a pretty good play drive. His energy was too high for his family and was not a good match for them. He is in a fenced in yard and he does climb under the fence from time to time to chase squirrels and chipmunks. He will sit and stay when you ask him. His personality is excellent -- if you let him, he will lick your face right off.
Note: This dog is a "Guardian Assistance Placement" dog, meaning he/she is being cared for in a home that is not affiliated with Ratbone Rescues. The guardian has supplied vet records and signed an agreement giving Ratbone the right and responsibility to rehome the dog, but Ratbone does not have physical custody and cannot otherwise vouch for any of the information provided.
OUR ADOPTION FEE is $150 ($175 for puppies younger than 12 months; $200 for American Hairless Terriers).
QUESTIONS ABOUT ADOPTION? Read the "Adoption Process" section below!
IS THIS DOG AVAILABLE? If the bio above doesn't say that there's an adoption pending, then YES! he or she IS available. As soon as we approve an application, we'll post it, so you will NOT get more current info by emailing us to ask if the dog is available. To "get in line" to adopt or get more details, you MUST CLICK HERE to submit an Adoption Application.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THIS DOG? The email address on this page is for website-related issues ONLY. For answers to specific questions about a particular dog, you MUST submit an Adoption Application! That is the only way to access the fosterparent for this particular dog, who is the only person who can answer specifics about this dog's personality or geographic location. (Our dogs are located in private fosterhomes around the state, and we do not provide those addresses on the Internet or to casual inquiries, and you cannot just "drop by" to see a dog without prearranging it with the fosterhome.) Because we are an all-volunteer organization and receive a very high volume of inquiries, we can only respond personally to people who have demonstrated a serious interest in adoption by filling out our application.
