My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ABOUT PATRICK:

Patrick is approx. 12 years old and is a sturdy, good-sized cat. You can definitely tell that he is a male!

Patrick is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, tested negative for FELV/FIV, and is microchipped. Patrick is great with his litter box! He is the first one in the box when it is just scooped out! He is good with cats, but pretty much enjoys is own company and likes watching the other cats interact.

He is a bit shy at first with new people and can be a bit reclusive at times but once you pick up a toy to play he's ready to go! He's especially fond of toys that dangle or interactive toys. Patrick is also quite the hunter, having captured two mice in his living quarters!

Patrick isn't fond of being held, but he has accepted being petted and brushed once in awhile. He is a gentle cat and may take a bit of time to come out of his shell in a new home, but he has made wonderful progress here with us. He loves to butt heads Paul (who was rescued with him) and he sleeps with him. We think he will be fine with another laid-back cat, or as the only cat in a home.

The story of the 3 P's: Patrick, Peter, and Paul were once indoor cats but became homeless after their Dad passed away and the house was sold. All three boys lived outdoors for a year and a half. Even though they had shelter and were fed we were concerned about their safety and health because NJ's winter's are very cold and bitter and sometimes subzero temperatures.

If you like cats that aren't under your feet, or needing very much attention, then Patrick is the cat for you. He will keep you company and definitely take care of any mice that dare enter his territory!

If you would like to donate towards Patrick's care, you can donate through PayPal, or mail your donation to CATS, P.O. Box 344, Belvidere, NJ 07823. Updated 2/22/22.

Additional adoption info

We require a pre-adoption application which supplies information to us about the type of cat that would be suitable for the adopter and the home environment.

We visit the home with our cats (cats that interest the adopter, and cats that we believe may be a good match for the adopter). We have a leisurely visit with the potential adopter and we all observe the reactions of the cats with the people, and reactions of the people to the cats.

Our fees are usually below $100 and all cats are sterilized, have received age-appropriate vaccinations, were tested for FELV/FIV, wormed, treated for fleas, and most are microchipped.

We do not allow declawing of our cats, and all cats are adopted as indoor-only pets. Under certain circumstances we will adopt out cats that are suitable as barn cats.

Go meet their pets

Adopters can visit cats in their foster homes, and all arrangements are made with the foster family as to date and time of visit.

Private, in-home visits, can also be arranged in the adopter's home, especially if several cats are appealing to the adopter.

More about this rescue

We are all volunteers in this group. Donations allow us to continue our work so that thousands of kittens are not born every year to feral and stray cats.

We organized this group because we do not agree that killing healthy animals is the answer to the pet population problem. We also believe that feral cats have the right to live. We provide education and assistance to people that want to trap cats and get them sterilized and vaccinated.

We make ourselves available to the independent feral cat caretaker, and independent cat owner, and help publicize their adoptable kittens and cats on our web site and at fund raising events.

During the last several years, our organization has prevented hundreds of thousands of kitten births, and helped find hundreds of homes for cats and kittens.
