Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Eliza is a beautiful, three-year-old Keeshond mix with a happy, sensitive disposition, who likes to be with people. She is golden with dark guard hairs, and with the heavy feathering on the tail and hind legs that is characteristic of Keeshonden.
She loves to go for walks, but is most happy to be in the house with her person. She is very responsive and comes when her name is called. She loves food, and as a result she is quite easy to train. She will do anything for a treat.
Eliza was originally adopted by a young woman, and they lived together happily for a year. Then this woman’s living arrangements changed, and Eliza suddenly found that she was living outdoors with three other strange dogs. She was not happy, and she began digging and protecting her food, and the owner decided to return her to rescue. Neither of these issues have been a problem in her foster home, where she has been living in a house with two other dogs.
Now she wags her tail all the time, and on walks greets all dogs and people. Unexpected sounds can sometimes make her jump, so we feel that she would benefit from being take out for more socialization. Yet even when she is surprised by a sound she does not appear to be frightened, but steps forward to investigate after the initial surprise.
Eliza will do well in a home where life is stable and where she can be the center of attention. We will encourage her adopters to take her to obedience classes, for she will love them, and the classes will boost her confidence and deepen the bond with her new owner.
