My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

08-19-08 Bryan is a purebred "Mutt" of black/white, ID as a spaniel mix, who was sitting in a kill shelter, not much chance of adoption. This is one very special little boy!! REad on and fall in love!

Bryan may have been born with a birth defect. It does not appear to be the result of an accident. Doc will have to give us an expert opinion. Bryan does not appear to have any discomfort, just doesn't walk a typical walk. His hips, legs, paws are rigid, yet he gets around.

Shhhhh Do NOT tell Bryan he is handicapped. He won't believe it. He has managed to cope with his physical challenge. He gets from Point A to Point B so life is as good for him as it gets.

Bryan shared the shelter kennel space with another dog, did fine, no problems.

With Bryan's physical challenges we will let Doc decide what vet work should be done.

The updates on his/her likes & dislikes will help you know if this fur-kid is suitable for your home.

We will be evaluating, loving, letting go to make room for another fur-kid at risk.

PM - Bryan rode on a fluffy pillow on the front seat for the visit to Doc. Given his Rabies & an exam, Doc agrees that Bryan has a birth defect, is about 2 years of age, possibly beagle & border collie in his mix.

Bryan has no knees. He has learned to adapt by putting the right back leg in front of the left back leg, a sort of brace with both back legs as a rudder. Once he gets up some speed he tends to walk on his front legs, rear legs up ever so slightly for balance. He is so special!

Bryan weighs 21 lbs. & Doc suggested he not gain much weight, make it harder on his mobility. Doc further did not recommend that he be neutered at this time. He will be neutered prior to adoption.

Bryan took a walk about the vet clinic showing off to everyone how well he manages. He has been loved & well cared for at some time. He can't tell us why he landed in doggy jail. His coat is shiny, he is very friendly, does well on the leash, does well on the seat of a vehicle.

08-20 We will be consulting Doc again. Bryan does not know he has a physical challenge. He has adapted so well since birth, all boy! Lust knows no boundary. If a stray female should wander near the fence he would find a way. The old saying "Where there's a will there's a way" would come into play with Bryan.

We will ask Doc to proceed with the neuter within the next few days. He will also get his back teeth cleaned, remove a bit of tartar, have a healthy start to the rest of his life.

We believe there is a very special family out there for Bryan. If you or someone you know has a physical challenge then please consider Bryan. He enjoys life, is playful. Just because he is different from the other fur-kids doesn't mean he can't be a wonderful family pet.

08-21 Bryan rode very nicely again on the big pillow on the front seat of the vehicle.

He lowers himself out of a vehicle with agility. He is a shining example of living with a physical challenge!

As he walked into the clinic the 2nd time, mouths dropped open. Vet staff could not believe how much better he was doing. He gets daily exercise, he is happy, well fed, cared for. He had to have been loved by someone for quite some time, nearly 2 yrs. old, coat glistening with good care.

Bryan goes nose to the ground like a beagle, the bay of a hound. Lil scamp doesn't yet have any herding drive, just the scent trail. He does appear to have house manners for the limited time we have observed him.

08-23 Bryan & Tito LOVE playing together, 2 young fur-kids romping & having a good time.

Bryan has spent a lot of time with the fur-kids in the small dog play yard. He gets about with the little pack just fine, using the back legs crossed over at the paws as one leg.

He then came with the pack into the house, is very comfortable in a home environment. He goes to the door to go outside. He's too courageous & well behaved to be a Bridge Kid! Life is to be enjoyed!
