Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Cubby Bear is a dog we met through a new intervention program at Chicago Animal Control called CRISP.
Mid August, Players for Pits was running the program where we work with people who are surrendering dogs to see how we can assist. On that particular Sunday, a couple walked up with this stunning pup they said they could no longer keep. They said a "friend" had given him to them just a day ago but they are not able to continue to care for him.
We noticed immediately that although he's a big guy, he had bite marks literally all over his body with the majority being on his face and neck. We gladly took him into our program knowing that he needed to know what safety felt like.
We immediately took him to our vet who confirmed our suspicion that even though Cubby Bear is about 90 lbs, he's only six months old. We believe he is a Dogo mixed with another large breed like American Bulldog or even Mastiff. He's SUCH a sweetheart- loves other dogs and is extremely affectionate with people. It's always amazing the resiliency these dogs demonstrate even when they clearly had a rough start to life.
Cubby Bear is settling into his foster home and already loves playing with his foster siblings. We do believe he may be deaf but that doesn't stop him from loving his new life!
