Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Due to state laws regarding out of state adoptions, we cannot adopt to families in Massachusetts or Rhode Island.
Raven wants to be the next member of your family! She is a very sweet and deserves nothing less than the PERFECT family. I know most dogs on this site are rescues and haven't always been dealt the best hands at life, but poor Raven has had her share of bad experiences. She was found running back and forth across an interstate in the middle of the city. No collar, no one looking for her, no one else trying to catch her, and obviously scared for her life. I stopped to save her and brought her home and listed her as found, but not one ever stepped forward to claim her. And why would they? She was extremely dehydrated and malnourished and covered in large ticks - I could count every rib in her bony body. She was scared and quite nervous, but she immediately knew I was there to rescue her. To save her from wherever she came from so she would never have to go back. After getting to know each other and she gained enough weight to be spayed, my vet discovered that she had ovarian cancer. My vet removed the ovaries and all of the surrounding damaged tissue. Raven is considered cancer-free, but I do want any potential adopter to be aware of that. She deserves somewhere to be pampered and loved as she lives out the rest of her days. Not starving on the street not knowing where her next meal will come from like her previous years have been spent.
Raven is eight years old, house broken, well behaved, passive, and has great leash manners. She still has so many more years ahead of her and she doesn't want to spend them in foster care. She is a playful girl at times but she mostly enjoys sleeping on the couch and watching Netflix. Maybe with a bowl of shareable popcorn. She is good natured and does well with cats, kids, and other dogs. She is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via PETS transport services upon adoption. Her adoption fee is $400 and includes spay, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, and transport costs.
Second Chances is a rescue organization based out of Pontotoc, Mississippi which adopts dogs and puppies all over the Northeastern United States. All of our dogs and puppies are kept in private foster homes in Mississippi until adopted. Our dogs are NEVER in a facility.
