Nell belonged to an elderly woman out in east Texas who kept her as an inside dog that went and did EVERYTHING with her until the woman was put into a nursing home. The nursing home was not a dog friendly one so Nell was sent off to live with grandkids. The grandkids did not want an inside dog, so they tied Nell to a tree out back with no fence and only a make shift dog house for shelter. Nell was NOT spayed, so of course a large black lab took up residence and temporary ownership of Nell until she was “removed from the grandkids since they obviously did not want her to begin with”. We were informed that she could possibly be pregnant when we took her in. It wasn’t long before it was quite evident that Nell was indeed gonna be a Mama.
Nell gave us very little warning as to when her due date was, luckily we had already started to keep her kenneled in the puppy room at night. Because on Oct 24th I discover that Nell gave birth to 8 puppies sometime during the night or early morning. All were healthy with the exception of the tiniest female that passed away later that day. And Mama made no noise that we heard while birthing those 8 babies. She had 2 boys and 6 girls. She has been a super Mama as well. Very protective but also very sharing. She still tries to nurse the monsters at playtime!
Nell is completely housebroken and crate trained. LOVES car rides and walks. She is not too fond of the cold but LOVES it when I put a sweater on her before sending her out the door! She has not yet been spayed but will be before her adoption is finalized. As well as micro-chipped and all vaccinations up-to-date. Nell plays well with all the dogs at the Casa, is very gentle with the little dogs as well as the puppies. But will also be rough and tumble if playtime turns into rough house time. She loves attention and to snuggle on the couch. She doesn’t bark much but does have a very high pitched whine when she wants/needs out of her kennel.
