Jake needs to be rehomed!!! He is a seven year old male dachshund. He was neutered when he was a puppy. He is not microchipped but is current on his shots. He is purebred, and I can provide paperwork to that affect. Jake is completely housebroken. He was initially crate trained as a puppy, but he no longer requires the crate. His favorite place to sleep is on the back of the couch. He is excellent with kids; and is very protective of babies. He also does well with other dogs, after he barks for a few minutes to show the other dog who is “boss”. I’m not sure how he is around cats, as we’ve never had him around a cat. Jakes is most comfortable curled up underneath a blanket in someone’s lap. He likes a lot of attention and petting! The best way to calm him down is to cover him up with a blanket-he won’t move for HOURS! He hasn’t been in a car often, but he will do okay in the car-as long as he can see out a window! Jake can be a stubborn dog. For example, he’s perfectly capable of “holding it”, until someone gets home to let him outside. But, if he feels you haven’t shown him enough attention, he’s likely to “poo” on the floor, just to show you he’s in charge. Like most dachshunds, Jake is a digger. He likes to dig holes in the backyard, and then lay in the hole to cool off. Another favorite place for him to relax is the kid’s sandbox. He doesn’t like being outside if it’s extremely hot or extremely cold, and he hates the rain. However, on a bright sunny 70* day, you could probably leave him outside all day long to lay in the sun!
