Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is Max (but pronounced Mox). I am a really happy enthusiastic sweet boy. The vet says I am no older than 2 years old. My foster parents found me chained up next to a shed, and from what they could gather, I was there most of my life. I am so glad I finally get a chance to find a family who will love me and give me a life that I deserve, because you know – being alone and chained outside was kind of rough, which as a result made me lose a lot of my coat and gave me sunburns. Despite my rough bringing, I am still a super sweet boy. Right now I am living with my foster family who also has three other pyrs. They taught me how to go up and down the stairs the first day I got there! We get along just fine, and I really enjoy being inside where there’s a machine call the air conditioner that constantly keeps the house really nice and cool. I’ve never had that before and I don’t think I ever want to leave an air conditioned home ever again! By the way, I am completely house broken and potty trained. I just like doing my business outside – it’s an old habit. I also don’t have a chewing habit either so you won’t have to worry about me chewing up remote controls or expensive shoes. However, I do like to counter surf when no one is looking, but then again, what Pyr doesn’t?
I have recently discovered the couch too, courtesy of one of my foster siblings. I really like taking naps on the couch now, especially if you want to sit right next to my head while you watch TV. If you don’t like that, I also understand “nyet” (no in Russian) and I won’t get on it. I don’t snore and I sleep through the night. I also don’t bark very often, but every now and then I do let out a little woof.
I really enjoy being a part of the pack, whether it’s with humans or dogs. It makes me feel much happier and less lonely. My foster mom says I am like a shadow, I’ll follow you and lay right by you wherever you go. If you want to give me belly rubs, I’ll gladly lay on the ground and put my head on your foot so you can rub me till your hands get tired. However, I only understand commands in Russian right now (my foster parents had to learn a few phrases in Russian in the process). I am good around people, really enthusiastic around other dogs because I just want to play with them, so I will need supervision on introductions. I don’t mind small children either, but it would be best to be around us when you first introduce us because I sometimes don’t know how big I am and I can get a little too excited for the little ones.
So, to my future fur-parent(s), I can’t wait to meet you, whoever you are. I promise you I’ll give you so much unconditional love, nose kisses, little licks, and happiness that you won’t regret it. Just remember, I am a big boy, I’ve lived a really hard life for someone who's only 2 years old. I really hope to find a home where I will be loved, and maybe then my hair will finally grow back, and I’ll look like a big giant cotton ball again!
