My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What is your name?
I am Ginger!

How old are you?
4-5 years old

How much do you weigh?
A perfect 50 lbs!

What do you look like?
Super cute with a sweet face. I am fawn colored with white on my chest, paws and a little on my nose.

What do you like to eat?
I LOVE to eat. My foster mom prefers beef or lamb food from Costco, but I will eat just about anything. I am very food motivated.

What kind of personality do you have?
I am a sweet girl who loves to play, but I also love my naps. I am still a bit shy and timid around new things & people, but give me a chance and you will see what a love I really am.

Describe your perfect day:
Going for my morning walk or playing fetch (I have been doing very well at dropping the ball at foster mom’s feet), playing with my foster brother, then sleeping on the couch with my foster mom. I also love playing with human foster brother. He feeds me treats when mom isn’t looking!

What is your favorite toy?
Bones, balls and anything that squeaks. I am very good at playing by myself. I also love sticks.

Do you know any tricks?
I can sit (hand and voice command), wait, place and I know “off.” My foster mom is working on getting me to lie down, but I am not too fond of that.

What scares you?
I do not like loud noises and sometimes new people worry me a bit. But, my foster parents take me on new adventures and help me get used to new things.

Have you been around children? Do you like them?
I LOVE children. My foster parents have 6 grandchildren between 1-10. I am gentle, patient, and let them give me hugs and kisses. They know they aren’t supposed to touch me when I have food or a chew toy, but I never mind when they do.

Do you like cats?
What’s that?

How do you feel about other dogs?
I love other dogs. My foster brother LOVES to play. My favorite is being chased and then jumping in my pool!

If you could be anywhere in the world, where would it be?
With my forever family. Walking, playing, swimming, napping.

How is your health?
Great as far as I know. I don’t have to take any medicine.

Who do you live with in your foster home and who is your closest companion?
I live with my foster mom, dad, human and canine brothers. I love my foster mom the most, but my foster dad is great too!

Where do you hang out when you are home alone? I'm comfortable with hanging out in my crate.

Where do you sleep? I happily sleep in my crate.

Do you like walking on a leash?
Yes, but I do best when I have on my training collar.

Do you have any "not-so-great" habits that we should know about? For instance, do you bark or dig in the yard? Sometimes, I bark at strangers and things I haven’t seen before and I get excited if I see other dogs on walks. But, my foster parents always tell me what a good girl I am.

Are you house trained? (Meaning do you go potty outside)
Yes. And I will let you know if I need to go out!

Do you like playing in water?
I love being in the water. I love to swim in the creek and fetch sticks. I have a small pool that I love to sit in or wrestle my foster brother in.

What do you love about your foster family?
They show me love, consistency and keep me safe. They are teaching me how to be a real dog!

What was your life like before being brought into NorCal Bully Breed Rescue? I was found as a stray. My foster parents think I was caged, bred and abused. They are teaching me that not everyone will hurt me and that not everything is scary.

******************************************************************

NorCal Bully Breed Rescue (NBBR) is a foster based rescue with foster homes spread throughout the Sacramento area. We require our adopters to be within a 50 mile radius of us.
This is because we need to do a physical yard check to guarantee that the potential adopter's yard is safe and secure, and also have them be close enough should any behavioral issues arise, and the assistance of our trainer is needed.
(*FaceTime or Skype are NOT acceptable methods of communication regarding yard checks.)

We HAVE made exceptions for dogs that have been with us long term, and for senior dogs. We would still need to perform a yard check, and would be happy to do so for a dog that has been passed over repeatedly, but not for dogs that are in high demand.

That said, it must be a neighboring state to California. NOT across the country. That would be too much. (*We will NOT be making this exception for puppies or designer breed dogs, so please don’t ask. It’s way too much for us to have to request time off of work and lose pay to drive a dog out of area when we have plenty of great homes in our area wanting to adopt these dogs.)

We try our best to match our dogs to the perfect homes, and match them based on their personalities, not their looks.

Adoptions are not done on a first come, first serve basis, rather in the order of what homes are the right match for that particular dog.

Our adoption fees are based on the dog and typically range from $200-$500. In the case of senior dogs (6+ years), fees will be waived to the right home. This includes spay/neuter, vaccines, microchip, and deworming (if necessary). In the case of designer breed dogs, like French Bulldogs and English Bulldogs, the adoption fee will be significantly higher in order to offset the costs associated with their surgeries, or associated with their demand.

Ginger's ADOPTION DONATION IS $200

Interested in meeting this dog or another one of our available dogs? Simply complete and submit our adoption application on our website norcalbullybreedrescue.com (FROM YOUR HOME COMPUTER, not cell phones, yet! We’re working on that!!) and we will respond to you within 3-5 days. Once a yard check is completed and you’ve passed the adoption process, you’re welcome to meet any of our dogs!!!

Thanks so much for your interest, and we hope we are able to match you up with your next family member!!! Looking forward to your application!!!
