My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Aphrodite. My foster mommy named me after the goddess of love and beauty because when I came to my new mommy, I was full of love. I have been mistreated my whole entire life, and still found it in my heart to love my new foster mom. I came into the rescue very, very sick. I had a hole in my mouth that was SEVERELY infected, was covered in fleas and ticks, severely underweight and had only my rabies shot. My foster mom doesn't know anything about my background because I came from a shelter, but what she does know is I am one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs she has ever had the privilege to meet. I love to be with her!! She is lots of fun, and gives me lots of yummy treats!! I also like my foster siblings. I'm not really sure how to play, but I'm learning. I also like kids. They are my size humans!! I wouldn't probably do well in a home with a child under 5 because I am a big girl, and one of the ways I show affection is by pawing my human. My foster mommy is telling that is not good, and I should stop, but I haven't quite caught on yet. My foster mom wants to speak with you; so now a few words from her... But remember ME, APHRODITE, when your application asks who you would like to adopt if you think I could be the perfect furever addition to your family!

Ok, Foster Mommy Brandi here:: Aphrodite is right, she really is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. She came to me very scared, and very sick!! Aphrodite is a min pin mix. I believe that she is part beagle or some other kind of small hound. She doesn't bark very often, but when she does, she howls like a hound. She's a bigger girl. When she gets to her ideal weight, I believe it will be 20-25lbs. We estimate her age to be somewhere between 5 and 8. When she came into rescue, she was enough to bring tears to your eyes. The infection in her mouth caused her so much pain, she could barely eat or drink anything, but even through the pain, she still tried to give me love. She has never pottied in my house. She is not destructive at all. She will not jump on the couch, unless I tell her to come up with me. She is not aggressive at all, I can put my hand in her food dish, and she will just eat around it. Her favorite place to lie in my house in on top of a blanket, especially if it just came out of the dryer!!

I believe that she was abused previously. She has had some bbs which were shot into her, but that won't cause any problems in the future. She is very submissive, and if there is any loud noise she will cower and submit. She gets scared when I say "no" to her, (which I've only had to say a few times, honestly, she does nothing wrong!!) She doesn't really like going in her kennel, but she never barks, and never messes in her kennel. She also snorts like a pig because of the hole that was in her mouth; but that makes her all the more adorable. The vet said that he had never seen anything like it before, and that she will probably snort for the rest of her life because he had to reconstruct that whole area.

When she came to me, she would eat her food, and parts of it would come out of her nose, but thankfully, that doesn't happen anymore. She does snort when she gets excited. It's very cute. She also has a natural tail, that when she gets excited, she will whip you with. She doesn't mean to, she's just so excited!! She does really great with children. She doesn't quite understand how to play with them, but she likes them, and will come paw them if she can. She's not as cat friendly, and I believe that she should not go to a home with cats. She doesn't understand that she's bigger than them, and she scares them. She just wants to know what they are. I cannot express to you how sweet this dog is. She really is the most loving, thankful, girl I have ever met.

Prior to her adoption, Aphrodite will be spayed, microchipped, heartworm tested and on monthly preventative, and on monthly flea and tick preventive.

If your not able to take Aphrodite home, but will still like to help, please consider donating to FOP to aid in paying her vet bills; which are very expensive, and we rely solely on donations to continue to save these deserving babies!! She's a beautiful girl that deserves all the love in the world!! If you think that Aphrodite would be the perfect addition to your home, please submit an application for her today! However, I must forewarn you, be prepared for one of the most rewarding relationships of your life!
If you have any questions about Aphrodite, please do not hesitate to contact her foster mommy at brandi@rescueminpins.com . I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about her.
