Meet Katie! This adorable little chi was rescued from an abandoned house where she was left alone with another puppy, and three declawed cats. All the other animals have since found their homes, save for Katie and her kitty sibling, Lacy.
Katie is your typical chihuahua, she can be shy and a little barky at first upon meeting, but slowly warms up ESPECIALLY if you have food as she will do absolutely anything for a snack. Katie is smaller for a chihuahua, running at around 8 lbs, she is still the life of any party and has loads of personality to make up for her small size. Katie has been housed with a family prior to being rescued where she lived with multiple small children, cats and other dogs. She gets along well with other dogs but can be slower to warm up. She will growl and bark at them for the first couple days but eventually once she spends more time she warms up and is happy to run and play with the others. She gets along with large dogs but of course, prefers the smaller crowd like herself as I am sure the big dogs look quite large from her perspective. She doesn't mind the cats at all, though sometimes she will chase them around. When they come up to her she will either sit very still and let them smell, or she will run away barking and growling. With children, she needs slow introduction as she needs to warm up to people before just being picked up and held. She prefers to come to you and ask permission versus just being picked up unwillingly.
Katie's favorite thing, besides food, is to run and play. When she is in the yard she will wander, digging around for acorns or smelling for other animals nearby. She loves to "wrestle" and for those who are not tender handed, she will happily rough house and play with you. When it's time to settle down, or your not in the mood for play, Katie will happily perch herself on the couch with you or find her way into your lap or on your shoulders. She LOVES to give kisses and she especially enjoys a good belly rub and butt scratch. She minds extremely well once she has adjusted and bonded with her humans, and will even free leash around our property with us when we call her. She does know some basics, but as per her breed, will be stubborn sometimes. However, if you are patient and firm, she will respond and pass with flying colors. She knows her basic obedience, is housebroken, crate trained, and walks well on leash.
Katie is fully vetted meaning she is spayed, up to date on shots, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention for Heartworms, fleas, and ticks. She is estimated to be around 3 yrs of age.
