Here's what the humans have to say about me:
**Courtesy Post**
My name is Latifa. I am about 3-1/2 years old.
I was named after a queen but certainly wasn't treated like one. I was used for breeding and when my owner decided to replace me with one of my puppies he dumped me at the Cozumel Humane Society. Yep, you read that right. I'm from Cozumel, Mexico and here's my story.
My rescuer lives in Houston, Texas where she devotes a lot of her time to dog rescue. She also owns a home in Cozumel. She's friends with the president of the Cozumel Humane Society and it seems even on vacation she feels the need to help the helpless. The Humane Society posted a picture of me on Facebook and my rescuer, being a huge fan of Pitties, saw it and decided to foster me while she was vacationing on the island. Wouldn't you know I fell head over heels in love with her and her with me. Both her and her husband cried when they had to return to the states and return me to the Humane Society.
When they returned a month later I got to stay with them again. It was during that stay they put a plan together to get me back to the states. A week later I became a Texan. Honestly it was hard at first because being from Mexico I only spoke Spanish. My rescuer sent me to live with a trainer that is teaching me English. I've learned what sit, down, stay and no means plus I've learned to walk nicely on a leash and become comfortable with a crate.
I'm not a super energetic dog. I enjoy a few crazy romps around the backyard. Then I just want to chill and be next to my human(s). Before I was rescued I never had much attention so now it's pretty important to me. I LOVE snuggling on the sofa and cuddling in bed. Short walks are good too.
I really don't care for cats and as far as dogs are concerned I would really prefer to live alone. I can be a little dog selective at times. I was kept in a run with puppies at the Humane Society but I'm tired of being a mom. I've also played with other dogs at my trainer’s house but my rescuer feels I would do best as an only dog because I deserve 100% of my humans attention. I want to be spoiled and treated like a queen for the rest of my life.
My ideal home would be one where my human is home the majority of the time. Like I said I want to be pampered and spoiled. My rescuer says I need someone that will be firm with me and make me mind my manners because I'm a little stubborn. I would do best in a home without small children because I'm somewhat of a bull in a china cabinet, older kids would be fine.
I'm 3 1/2 years old, fully vetted, crate trained, obedience trained, microchipped and ready to be your lap dog.
