Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Adorable Duke -
Meet Duke. This cutie is a chocolate lab mix. We are not sure what the mix is since he has very long legs and tiny feet! Greyhound? He is approximately 4-5 months old. Duke currently weighs in at 22 lbs - We guess that Duke will weigh about 45 lbs when full grown so he will not be a large dog. He loves people, children and gets along great with other dogs that can take his puppy antics. He is a smart boy and learns very quickly. Duke listens extremely well. In the little time he has been with his foster Mom, he now comes when called, sits, knows wait (not perfect) and understands No! Because his foster mom says it every time he gets into something he shouldn't! He is learning “leave it” with a swipe hand signal. Since he is still a baby, he does sometimes ignore his Mom when something else “grabs” his curiosity. But that is your typical pup behavior and reinforcement will be key! He will need some work with housetraining- We are not going to say house trained because if his foster Mom doesn’t watch, he will go on floor. He will go in the backyard as long as he's outside, Duke walks perfect on leash. His young foster sister, 12 years old, takes him for walks all the time. He is a pup for sure – but he is really good! Loves to jump up on outdoor furniture and hang with snuggle with his foster family! Given his long legs he can just jump right up!!
Cats, eh, jumps and barks at her a lot but not aggressive, so he would need some work with cats –he considers them “playmates”. He is awesome with the kids. If he gets excited, you have to use the "easy" or "no jumping " but he listens.
Duke Plays with toys and runs around the yard. He is a typical curious pup.
Dukes’ story is sad- this poor pup was an owner turn in in Corpus Christi Texas - since owner turn ins are the first to be euthanized when shelters are full Duke was at the top of the list... A wonderful volunteer reached out to us at Brooke’s Angels. We could not resist that cuteness, and had to give this darling baby the opportunity to find him a loving family and a life any pup should have. This baby has had a rough start but now things are about to change for him. Could you be that loving family he deserves? If so – Please email SHERRYL825@cox.net for an application so we can get this baby into his forever home. (Before his foster family changes their mind.. Ha!)
Dukes’ adoption fee is $475 – he is neutered, current on his vaccines, microchipped , on heartworm preventative, crate trained and ready to go.
