My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

CoCo's ADOPTION IS PENDING!!!

CoCo - female, spayed, vaccinated including Rabies, dewormed, 22lbs, 5yrs, Lhasa Apso mix – CoCo is BLIND.

CoCo is the sweetest little dog you could ever meet. She has been through so much but kept her spirits high and still loves life and everyone she meets – two or four legged. She is getting accustom to her new life without her sight and is doing fine. CoCo could have another 10+ years ahead of her, life is just beginning for this little lady! Read CoCo's heartbreaking story here - http://www.4leggedlove.com/adoption.htm

We say here “The Nose Knows” and she is making good use of her little sniffer to guide her around the foster home and the fenced yard. She LOVES being with people and can jump up on the couch with you or up on to your lap despite being blind. She can get up and down the stairs without a problem and follows long with the other dogs in the home like she is a regular. She navigates the furniture and down the hallways pretty well now that she is getting used to her foster home. CoCo will now live a long, happy, healthy life and will not need any further surgery for her eyes. Blind dogs can life very full lives and this is not stopping CoCo one bit. She really enjoys time outside, when she is not in a fenced yard she should be leashed at all times when walking on the street or at the parks because CoCo can not see danger so she will not know when she is going to bump in to something and she can not tell where the road or on coming people/bikes/strollers… are ahead of her. CoCo should not go to dog parks but enjoys meeting other dogs on the street and in the home. CoCo will need a home with no small children; preferably she can find a home with no children or at least with children 12yrs+ who can grasp the responsibilities of owning a dog that no longer has vision. CoCo would be a great companion for another mature dog or as the only dog in the home.

CoCo is non-shedding and hypoallergenic so she is ideal for allergy sufferers. CoCo would be happiest if she could keep her coat short so that it stays clean and mat free. She still needs to be brushed daily as she is low to the ground and will pick up dirty, twigs and other things in her coat; it needs to be kept free of mats. She should visit the groomers every 6-8weeks, she needs to go to a professional groomer who will not cage her – not Petsmart because it’s cheaper… She prefers a quieter, lower stress environment.

CoCo would like to find a mature home with patient, kind people who will take the time to learn with her and help her along in the world. CoCo likes having a fenced yard for a safe place to roam leash-free but would likely be fine in an apartment too.

We are still in dire need of donations to help pay for CoCo’s surgery. Her adoption fee will go 100% towards the costs of her operation.

CoCo's ADOPTION IS PENDING!!!
