Nester weighs 27 lbs, but he's not overweight. He's just bigger than a typical Cairn. Nester is a very sweet boy who loves to have his head and ears scratched. When you scratch the base of his ears he makes a sound like a deep purr. He is just starting to play with toys and likes to have me play tug with him. He is not an active dog, which is understandable at his age and would be perfect for someone who is looking for a quiet companion. He reminds me of a Benji-type dog you see in the movies - the ones with a heart of gold.
He isn't a barker either, which would make him perfect for someone in an apartment or with very close neighbors. He is completely housebroken! Not one accident or marking incident since he’s been here. He stays in an exercise-pen at night. There is a crate in the x-pen, but he really doesn’t use it, other than to stand on occasionally. The x-pen is only two feet high, but he has never tried to get out. Nester has lost some hearing and eyesight, but we all know dogs do fine with those issues. Other than that - his health seems to be very good.
