Allow us to introduce you to Rooster Cogburn! Named for John Wayne's Infamous, one-eyed movie character, U.S. Marshall Reuben J. 'Rooster' Cogburn, he is estimated to be 7 years of age but he could possibly be younger, according to a second opinion. Rooster came to Col. Potter from a sad situation--a shelter in Florida, where he was in danger of being put to sleep due to some eye problems. You see, this sweet little man had a very painful eye condition, which necessitated the surgical removal of his left eye. As Rooster had no vision in this eye and lots of scar tissue, this was the best option. But did Rooster let this little ol' surgery bother him? No way! Showing all of his 'True Grit,' he put his best paw forward and the vet staff regaled us here at Col. Potter with stories of Rooster's antics prior to his transport to his new foster home in Georgia. Despite the pain and discomfort he has endured, he is still the sweetest guy in the South! Wagging his tail constantly, he has won over his foster mom, dad, and the resident dogs and cats. The best part of Rooster's recovery? He won't need to wear an eye patch like his famous namesake!
