Here's what the humans have to say about me:
08=04-08 This young female appears to be a mix of shepherd & yellow lab. Take a look at that very sweet face. Wouldn't you like to be the one that brings a smile to her face. She so needs a home of her own and her own people to love!
Jacki is very thin, dumped in a rural area, local farm family has given her one vaccination, wormed her, is feeding her.
Jacki appears to be over 6 mo. of age, under a year, vet will need to confirm the age. She will be ripe for breeding so quick action is needed before that happens. She will be placed in quarantine tonight.
Jacki is submissive, rode without moving in the back seat of the car that delivered her to us this morning. Such a gently little lady she is.
Thus far she is quiet in the quarantine kennel, (quarntined until she is spayed) tail wags a greeting, ate her breakfast. She will be given mini meals 3 times a day to help put weight on slowly.
We have been told she did fine with farm cats, farm dogs, livestock.
Paula of Polly's Precious Paws has given Jacki a bath, will be on "Stand-by" to foster her once her vet work has been completed.
Jacki has been taken out of the kennel on a leash, will take some leash training. She goes into "submissive mode" then with coaxing will walk a few steps, go down again. She just needs time & patience, will get that as we work with her.
Trina, our obedience instructor, has offered to put Jacki in the training & day care at Ladies & Tramps once her vetting has been completed & she is healed from her spay.
We have this comment from a trusted rescue contact that is helping with her ID:
"Looks Sheppy to me with the dark down the tenderloin. Beautiful face that alone should get her a home."
Her disposition is mellow, not a barker, climber, digger.
08-07 Jacki seems to be doing better, adjusting to good food. She is finding her voice, barking at the deer & turkey that stroll through the woods.
08-12 Note from a volunteer who came to meet all the new arrivals:
"Jacki is so pretty she looks like Veronica Lake."
08-14 Jacki's owner never came forth despite the newspaper FOUND DOG notice.
Jacki rode very nicely in the back seat area, then curled up on the passenger seat, rode quietly to the vet.
She weighs 34 lbs., doubtful she will exceed 50 lbs. at maturity. Doc guesstimates her to be about a year of age. Doc also concurs with our shep/lab mix, just hard to really tell. She's a friendly pet, should do well with older children, may be fine on a farm setting.
If you want her to be a house pet then you must be willing to work with her house manners. Smart pet, should learn quickly with time & patience.
SURPRISE!! Doc did not find a spay scar, opened her up to spay, no parts to be found. Second vet called in, treasure hunt time, no parts to be found!. Jacki was probably spayed pediatric at some point in the past, thus the scar completely healed.
