HI THERE!
Please allow me to introduce myself; I'm Susie, or Susie Q as my foster mommy and daddy like to call me. They are pretty sure I am a min pin beagle mix. I consider myself very lucky. Why you ask? Well, you see, I was in a horrible place called animal control. I didn't like it there at all, it was dirty and loud. Then, I found out they were having something called a euthanasia training class. I didn't have any idea what that was; but it sure didn’t sound good. I knew my days were numbered; but then my angels at Friends of Penny found out about me and quickly came to my aid. They said that there was no way they would allow me to be used in a training class!! I am WAYYY to good of a girl to be used for such an AWFUL thing!
SO, now I am in my foster home. My foster mommy took me to the vet to get me the best care possible, and found out that I have a severe respiratory infection and am heartworm positive!! I love to be outside and I really want to play with all my foster brothers and sisters; however, due to my condition I am on strict restriction. My foster mommy says all this crate rest will do me good and I will be better in no time. Once my respiratory infection clears up, I will begin treatment to rid myself of those pesky heartworms. Even though I want nothing more than to get out of this crate and play; I know all of this rest will help me get better and then I can find my perfect furever family.
I don't know what happened to my old home but I love attention!! I will lay in your lap for hours and cuddle with you any chance I get. I am a REALLY good girl; even though I am very sick! My foster mommy tells me she loves to think about how fabulous I will be once I am all better! I am completely housebroken and crates trained; and do well on a leash and in the car. I get along great with other dogs, and I even don't mind the cat too much unless she provokes me… which she loves to do. Even then, I only bark at her. I don’t have a mean bone in my body. My foster mommy says I have that beagle bark; and she thinks that is just adorable.
Obviously, I am currently not quite ready to be adopted. Once I complete all my treatments and I am feeling better, I will be spayed and the rest of my vetting will be taken care of as well; including getting me on my heartworm preventive (so I never have to go through this again), all my vaccinations up to date, and getting microchipped.
As I am sure you can imagine, all of this is getting quite expensive, though my foster mommy would NEVER tell me that I’m not worth every penny. I am so grateful to Friends of Penny for being my heroes; and I want to help them in any way I can to show my gratitude. Would you consider making a donation towards my vet bills?? My foster mommy says that we rely completely on donations; and I know that I have many other foster furbrothers and sisters that need care as well.

***UPDATE***
10/14/08
Susie has completed her treatment and has rid herself of the heartworms!! She has been spayed, is now up to date on her vaccinations, is microchipped, and on monthly heartworm, flea and tick preventative.
