My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ATTR has rescued another poor soul that desperately needed out of her current situation. We want to introduce Zela our newest mom with 4 puppies. Zela has been horribly neglected and we dare say mistreated by her owner for the past 8 or 9 years. She is malnourished, has 2 types of Lymes disease and is Heartworm positive. And that is just the start of her issues at her elderly age. She has ear infections that have nearly closed her ears that are filled with growths and puss oozing nearly all the time. When you see the horrible state she has been in for probably most of her life you want to cry. Then when you actually meet her and her tail wags and she moves toward you for affection you completely fall apart. She is the sweetest dog you will ever want to meet. We think she is blind in one eye and she has very little stamina. The will to live and nurse the puppies she came with is astonishing. We quietly removed two of her puppies last night into foster to ease her into the second two going to foster homes today so we can properly start to treat her today. We can only imagine her body aches, her ear aches, her starvation and her fatigue. If anyone can foster this senior girl ATTR will provide all medical, food and crates needed to keep her as comfortable and happy as possible. She is mostly sleeping now so we think she will only bring a foster home the pure joy of seeing a dog realize the comforts of home and love she has never experienced. Below read the post that compelled ATTR to say yes we will take in this senior and ease her journey in this word. He puppies are all fat and sassy showing us she have given all of herself and it is now her time. We have 2 experienced foster homes with resident dogs that will take over the role of socializing and nurturing her puppies that are already eating solid food.

Medical update: we are waiting on culture results for her ears. She may require surgery or she may just have polyps that medication will shrink, which we have started. We are treating her for the Lymes and are going to do the slow method of monthly treatment for her her HW status for now. She loves to go for many slow for walks during the day and sleeps a lot. She is picky with her dog friends. She will be a great companion for a mellow couple of family. She loves the kids that come and read to her on Wednesdays for the Read To The Rescues program. She has been through a lot in her life and we are looking for a home for her to lounge in for the last few years of her life. She has never know the comfort and love of a home. Could it be yours? Please fill out an application to meet her as she is not on the adoption floor.
