Here's what the humans have to say about me:
CUBBY IN TUCSON, ARIZONA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!
Cubby is a delightful, 3 year old Belge smooth coat male Brussels Griffon. He is happily being cared for in a foster home with a whole bunch of Griffs, and fit in immediately. Cubby is playful, affectionate, confident but not aggressive. He loves sleeping in the big bed, especially on the pillow! Cubby was described as needy... he's not, he's a typical Griff. He just loves to be with people. Cubby is a very quiet dog. In the 2 weeks he's been in his foster home, he's only barked when playing with another dog. What a pleasure! Cubby is leash trained, uses pee pads in the house, and also potties outside. Cubby is crate trained, but not happy about it
The first 2 years of his life were spent as a pampered pet sleeping in bed with his owner. Due to his owner's health issues, Cubby had to be re- homed in what was thought to be a great home. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Cubby spent his days alone, tethered in the yard. He also was not given enough to eat and came to NBGR quite underweight at 10.8 lbs. Cubby's foster mom is working on that. Cubby's next home only lasted about 10 days due to no fault of Cubby's. There were 2 large dogs in the home who he was afraid of and a two year old child who chased him around. That really terrified him. His new home recognized that as much as they loved him, this was not a safe situation for Cubby and contacted NBGR.
Cubby is being lovingly fostered in a private home in Tucson, Arizona. He is neutered, micro chipped, up to date on vaccines and on heart worm preventive. He has grade II patella’s and may need surgery at some point in his life on one or both knees. He is in absolutely no pain at this time. Other than that, he is healthy.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
We never place dogs in homes reliant on electric or invisible fencing to contain pets. Fencing of this type may or may not keep a dog in the yard, nor does this type of fencing protect pets from predators, free roaming dogs, or people who may enter the yard. Should there be a power outage, the fence would be rendered useless. If a pet were to panic and run through the barrier and take an electrical jolt from the fence, that pet would not be inclined to return home, and could be lost forever.
