Here's what the humans have to say about me:
MERLIN IS NOT A SOMAD DOG. HE IS BEING ADOPTED THROUGH THE INDIVIDUAL THAT IS FOSTERING HIM.
Merlin is either a Spinone Italiano or he hit the genetic lottery. He has every trait of a Spinone - physically and personality. He is affectionately referred to as either "hunka-hunka-burnin'-love" by his foster mom or "blockhead" by his foster dad.
Merlin had been wandering the streets for a while before he was taken to the shelter. There, he made friends with everyone and became a favorite of the shelter staff. Yet, no one adopted him. He was taken into private foster care where he had to be treated for heartworms. He successfully recovered from heartworms and has tested HW negative.
Merlin weighs around 80 lbs (a tall 80 lbs) and his age is guessed to be around 5 yrs old. His favorite pastime activity is lying on the couch, sleeping. He loves to ride in the car, go for walks, chase the ball (loves ball!) and be petted. If he wants your attention, but you aren't giving it to him he'll do one of two things: put his weighty paw on you or (if you're standing up) stick his head and body through your legs so you cannot miss him!
When out in the public, he attracts a lot of attention and he loves it. Everyone asks what he is and all about him. This solidifies his conclusion that everyone MUST love him and he loves them back.
Merlin has lived with dogs as small as 4 lbs and as large as he is. He does great with them all and is VERY patient with them. He allows the puppies to crawl on him and the little yappy dogs to nip at his ankles - he ignores their antics! He isn't really playful with other dogs, but he is very kind to them.
While Merlin does not challenge a fence, if he gets out - he loves to roam - which is probably what landed him at the shelter in the first place. It isn't that he wants to run away, he just wants to explore. He WILL require a physical fence, but the size/height is not limiting factor.
Merlin's foster mom is 100% in love with him and she will not let him go to anything but the perfect home. He would be permanent member of the home is in now, but Merlin deserves a home where he can have more attention. He's in a home that fosters small dogs and he doesn't get the activity and attention he SO deserves.
Merlin is neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, current on preventatives, microchipped and is heartworm free. His adoption fee is $300.
