Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Bandana is a sweet, shy, Shepherd/Husky mix that lived on her own as a stray in an Antioch apartment complex since June 2015 (possibly longer). The group of concerned people who fed her and tried to catch named her "Bandana" because of the tattered red bandana that she wore around her neck. Then, thanks to the commitment of several dedicated, compassionate individuals, she was captured on Valentine's Day of 2016, at which time we welcomed her into the MTGSR program. She tested positive for heartworms and she was treated with Immiticide injections. She has completed her activity restriction period and is now available for adoption. We are looking for a very patient, nurturing adopter who is committed to continue working with her so that she can learn to trust humans.
Bandana is approximately eight years old and weighs 52 pounds. Se has a low energy level and is crate-trained and housebroken. She is good with other dogs but has not been cat-tested.

ADOPTION: Training (for both the dog and the family) increases the probability of a successful adoption. We feel strongly that training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership and we now require training for every dog placed through the MTGSR program. Bandana's total adoption cost is $375 which includes the $125 adoption fee (reduced senior dog adoption fee) and a training fee of $250 due at the time of adoption.
For the adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, current on heartworm/flea-tick preventatives and microchipped.
The training fee will include a plan tailored to that specific dog and that dog's needs (obedience training, behavior modification, etc.) and typically includes three private training sessions.
PLEASE NOTE: Our philosophy is “Rescue locally, place locally” which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville area AND we prefer to place our dogs in homes within a one-hour drive of Nashville. If you are outside of the Nashville area, please consider adopting a homeless dog in your local community.
