Luna is a fun loving girl who craves one on one attention. She is a quick learner and is enjoying playing with toys. Of the 2 sisters, she is the leader but when they are separate she is totally different. Luna is learning to be confident on her own and is trying new things. Luna loves men, women, kids and other dogs. Wrestling, tug and chase are favorites in the house. Outside she enjoys leash walks and stalking/chasing critters in the yard. A fenced in yard is preferred because of her prey drive. Careful, she does like to dig so a watchful eye at all times and keeping her busy will deter her from that.
She is doing well with house training. She keeps her crate clean and enjoys going in there to rest and eat her meals. She has had a couple accidents in the house but we are working on a signal. Luna is also learning to keep her mouth on dog toys only. Recently Luna has discovered a taste for shoes and while we have lost a couple pairs, she has quickly learned that is a "no,no" to chew. (Our kids have also realized that they need to keep their shoes in their cubbies.). She has met cats and is interested, but when they hissed she backed off. With smaller house pets (Guinea pigs in particular) she is very interested in and does not do well with them so we had to move ours and keep out of sight. We are working on her to not jump on us, which has come a long way. She is still very bouncy but knows by keeping her paws on the ground we will pet her faster.
Luna has recovered from an eye injury (ulcerated cornea). Prior to her coming to us she must have gotten into a little battle with her sister and was missing a patch of fur in the corner of her right eye. Luckily, the eye has healed and the fur has grown back. However, the second night we had her, something didn't seem right. She was lethargic, had difficulty breathing, wasn't eating and was very stiff. We took her to the vet the next morning to discover she was in severe pain with a swollen forehead and also had a fever. Our vet sedated Luna and shaved her forehead to take a sample of fluids (no abscess was found), she also did head and chest X-rays (no fractured skull or pneumonia). The blood test told us she has high white blood cell counts and they sent off the blood for more tests. The results came back positive for Eurlichia, which is a tick born disease. After some pain meds and antibiotics she is feeling much better!
She is up to date on puppy shots, heartworm negative and will be spayed soon.
Luna would enjoy having a family to call her own. A fur sister or brother would be an added bonus to wrestle and play with!
*Please note that there is a lot of interest in Luna. Please do not get discouraged if she is adopted before you might have a chance to meet her. There are several fun young dogs who need a good home!

Luna and her sister Mocha are both six months old and were surrendered by their owner, we assume that they are litter mates but don’t know much about their history. They have just come into our care and are being evaluated by their Foster. Stay tuned for more information!
