My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

FRED IN OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA HAS BEEN ADOPTED!

DON'T FORGET TO WATCH FRED'S CUTE VIDEO!

Fun-filled Fred is 7 years old and weighs 11 lbs. He was surrendered to NBGR when his family could no longer care for him. Fred is a delightful guy who enjoys time with his human. He will follow you around the house and gladly curl up in your lap for a snooze. He gets along great with other dogs and loves people. Although he is being fostered in a home with cats, Fred would prefer to be in a home without them. The cats would probably feel the same.

Fred is practicing up on his leash skills; he loves to go for walks but needs to build up his stamina so he can go on longer strolls. He loves to go for car rides and gives no resistance to his foster mom putting on his seatbelt for safety. Fred sleeps quietly in his crate but wanted us to tell you he’d much prefer to sleep in the big bed in his new home. He promises he will keep snoring to a minimum.

Fred has shown excellent potty skills in his foster home and has had only one accident. His foster mom takes full blame for not taking him out before bedtime, so don’t hold that against him.

Fred loves toys and likes to demonstrate his playful side. When he is in a frisky mood, he will try to gum on your hand and will run about the house, pouncing on toys and shaking them senseless.

He can be vocal so he would not be a good candidate for apartment or common-wall living environments. He is much like other Griffs, barking at the doorbell, people walking by his domain, or other unfamiliar noises. Fred also enjoys barking up and down the fence with the neighbor dog.

SPECIAL NOTES:

(1) Because his previous family did not pay attention to Fred’s dental hygiene, he had to have most of his teeth extracted – including that darling snaggle tooth he had in the front. He now has five teeth remaining but has no problem eating kibble. His foster mom says he also really likes moist food and doesn’t object to being hand fed. That Fred is pretty smart guy.

(2) Fred also has dry eye, and he will require prescription eye drops twice a day and artificial tears/lubricant every couple of hours during the day for the rest of his life. This treatment is new for Fred, but his foster mom says he is getting the routine down and doesn’t resist.

Fred is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, micro-chipped, heartworm negative and on preventative.

All he needs now is a constant companion or family to call his own who will faithfully promise to adore him as much as he adores them….and make sure he gets his eye drops. Do you have a little extra room in your heart, home, lap, and bed for this adorable guy?

Fred is being lovingly fostered in a private home in the Oklahoma City, OK area.

Please keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.

We never place dogs in homes reliant on electric or invisible fencing to contain pets. Fencing of this type may or may not keep a dog in the yard, nor does this type of fencing protect pets from predators, free roaming dogs, or people who may enter the yard. Should there be a power outage, the fence would be rendered useless. If a pet were to panic and run through the barrier and take an electrical jolt from the fence, that pet would not be inclined to return home, and could be lost forever.
