Check out our sister brand, Kinship, for vet chat, a nutrition calculator, basic obedience training, and (much) more. So you're never flying solo in this pet parenting thing.
I found a new home! Plenty of my friends are looking for one too. Check out other pets at this shelter, or start a new search.

Name: Owen
Breed: Chihuahua
Gender: Neutered Male
Age: Approx. 3 yrs 10 mos in May ’16
Weight: Approx. 7.5 lbs (was getting into the cat food, but he’s dieting now!)
Energy Level: Low – Medium
Apartment Appropriate: No- maybe a town home with thick walls and understanding neighbors 😉
Good w/ Dogs Fine with calmer dogs, prefers bossy little females 🙂
Good w/ Cats: Good with cats, but will try to play with them
Good w/ Kids: Should be fine with gentle, respectful teenagers
Comments: We don’t know much about the first years of Owen’s life, but when we learned about him, he was living outside as a stray and it took the people trying to help him a long time to catch him. Now that he’s in rescue, he’s looking forward to never having to take care of himself like that again! Can you imagine this little bitty guy out on his own? Owen is a very sweet boy who really loves and craves attention. He likes things to be low-key, and will screech like a bird when he feels like there’s too much excitement for him to take. For this reason, it’s best that Owen avoids apartment or condo living unless it is a very calm environment without thin walls. 😉 He likes to be cuddled and have belly rubs, and if your hands aren’t available, he’ll just rub up against your foot. Owen tends to be a bit shy in public, but it doesn’t take him long to warm up in his home. He is totally crate trained and goes straight outside to do his business when you let him out. If his new family continues this routine, he should do very well. If there are potty pads available, he will use them, too. He is completely out of the puppy stage and conducts himself with that adult maturity that we really appreciate. He does like to play with some of the female fosters in the program- even the really bossy ones. He is also really enjoying playing with the cat in his foster home.
