Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs, because they come from shelters or are strays, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED! If an animal is still posted for adoption, he/she is still available. If you see this post, she is available for adoption so there is no need to email us for availability.
Meet beautiful Lacy, she is a precious girl who is so very sweet and friendly. She loves every person she meets. She is totally an awesome dog. Lacy can be somewhat of a lazy dog, not high energy at all. She will run and play with her toys, and she can run fast when she wants. She will run on a leash or run around with other dogs outside. Inside she's fairly calm and just likes laying around. She seems happiest with dogs and really enjoys their company. Like people not all dogs will get along. Lacy has met many dogs, and she will either instantly bond with some and have a great time playing, or others she didn't like or they didn't like her. Overall she LOVES the company of other dogs, but it will depend on the dog. She seems to do best with male dogs, and hasn't met one she hasn't loved yet. If after the initial intro, the dogs do well, we would like to do a one week trial with your family and Lacy to help assure a good match.
Lacy has no problems meeting children. She has met kids as young as 18 months and up and she was great with them. However we feel a home with children 5+ would be best. Lacy won't jump on furniture at all. The foster even tried to prompt her and encourage her, and still she won't go on the couch. So a nice bed on the floor would be great for her. She is house trained, and doesn't chew on things. Lacy doesn't like being in a crate at all. She is absolutely fabulous with cats!
Lacy loves being outside and going for walks. She's a gem on a leash with no pulling. The foster and the temp foster who looked after Lacy while the foster was on vacation, has not seen any food guarding or issues when food was touched her while she was eating or when eating around other dogs. She has fabulous manners and is willing to share with other dogs and people Lacy seems happiest around other dogs and being outside. So we don't feel an apartment or condo would be the best match for her.
Lacy's had a rough start. Lacy was an owner surrender from Hazard, KY, and arrived to the rescue on April 30, 2016, with her 10 puppies. That was a lot of puppies that this girl kept safe and well fed. The owners didn't indicate her age, but our vet feels she is between 2-4 yrs old, and she weighs about 45 pounds, but she is still a little underweight and should ideally weigh between 50-55 pounds. Breed we aren't sure but our best guess is Shepherd/Boxer/Mountain Cur. Lacy she was allowed to roam the streets of Kentucky where she got pregnant. Then her owners didn't want her anymore. After she arrived to the rescue, we noticed that she had a BB (like from a BB gun) in her earlobe. Yep someone shot a BB gun at her. We were going to have our vets remove it during her spay, but then she had a complication from the spay, and they needed to pull her out of the Anesthesia. Don't worry Lacy is totally fine, and went home the next day. However since the BB doesn't pose any medical issues, we opted not to put her under again to remove it. Lacy also tested positive for Giarrdia and was treated for that. Giarrdia is generally a bacteria a dog gets from drinking stagnant water.
We feel a home where someone is home more during the day would be best for Lacy. She doesn't like being left alone. She may have some minor anxiety, which once she is feeling safe and secure should reside. She has been through a lot, and she loves her people. She loves her people, and wants to be around people. Given her tough start at life, we want to give Lacy the best life with a great family who has time to love her.
If you would like to meet Lacy, an adoption application is required since we do not have a physical building. You can find our adoption application on line on our website at www.angelsonwheels.org then click on the forms tab. Once received it will be process, and the foster will be in touch within 7 days once the application is processed and if approved! Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s). It's advised to submit an application immediately if you're interested in meeting this pet. Emails will slow down the process, and while you are awaiting an email response, which can take several days, we may get applications.
Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but is required prior to making arrangements for a meet and greet as all of our animals are cared for in homes. We can't schedule meet and greets until the application is submitted and approved. We don't have a building so there are no viewing hours. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes by wonderful families who volunteer their time to save these precious souls.
The adoption fee is $250 and includes:
Her spay which is now done
Test for Heartworm which was negative
Tested the tick transmitted Lyme Disease which was negative
Tested for the tick transmitted disease Ehrlichiosis which was negative
Tested for tick transmitted disease Anaplasmosis which was negative
Rabies vaccination,
DHPP vaccination,
Microchip,
Full CBC blood panel which was all within limits except for one area was slighly low, because of her nursing.
Treated with monthly frontline plus while in our care or Revolution
Given monthly heartworm preventative while in our care
Fecal tested positive for Giarrdia and she was treated with Panacur
Leash and collar
First vet visit is free if through one of our participating vets.
We need to have an adoption application, sometimes a home visit, references checked including the vet of current and/or past cats and/or dogs, to approve an application. At the meet and greet, we will need to meet all members of the family including any four legged doggies in your home to assure everyone gets alone. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
