My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Daisy is a 6 year old, 9lb, blind, Maltese.

Here is what Daisy's foster has to say about her:

"Daisy is sweetest, most loving little girl you could ever meet. She’s like a soft little lamb and is smart, gentle, companion who loves to give love. She’s had a tough life and was abandoned but it has not affected her beautiful spirit. Daisy deserves someone who will love and care for her with all their heart. She travels easily and everyone loves her! She loves car rides and to go with you everywhere you go. Daisy loves to just be with you, to be a lap baby while you work. She is very quiet and likes a quiet, secure atmosphere with regular routines. She loves other dogs and a home with another little dog to be her friend and help her get around would be wonderful. She is very appropriate with other gentle dogs.Daisy is housebroken. Daisy doesn’t shed. Daisy is blind so she needs someone to help her learn her way around. Blind dogs are so easy to care for and to love. Daisy’s safest place in the world will be when you’re holding her gently but securely or when she’s tucked in your arms, or can feel you gently holding her leash. Your hands are her refuge, nest, where the troubles of the world go away. Your eyes are her eyes. Daisy’s hearing is exceptional and she picks up words very easily. She responds to and learns about her environment by sound, smell, and even temperature. Keeping her ears healthy and free from infection, dirt, or other will be important. When she gets older it will be even more important to maintain her hearing so that her world doesn’t shrink and become isolating. If you sing to her she’s one happy girl. She loves soft music. Daisy is so contented when she’s being held and loved. She likes other dogs but she also appreciates a quiet environment since it seems she probably spent years in unsettled environments, trying to stay safe. She’s a survivor. If you put bells or things with different sounds in various rooms it helps Daisy identify where you are. Maybe a bell in one room, a clicker in another. It’s taken Daisy two weeks to feel comfortable walking around in the house alone but she loves to do this. Daisy will woof if she hears something that she needs to protect you from since she wants to be your protector! Leash trained and she loves walks. She is so well-mannered on her leash. I walk just one step ahead since she can’t see the path and listens for your footsteps to lead her. If you have a large area of open grass she would be so thrilled to be able to wander with the trust that you’re watching for bumps. She loves to walk without fear. She loves to go to the dog park to sniff the grass and play. But remember that bigger dogs can hurt her so it’s important protect her. Daisy loves to go outdoors. Her skin is very pink so remember that she can get sunburned! Especially when her fur is short. She needs protection just like a human. My dream is for Daisy to have the most loving home any dog could hope for. She’s survived some tough things in life so now she deserves pure love forever."
