My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Adoption fee on this dog is $300.

Collier is a 10 month old male with a sweet personality to go with his cute teddy bear looks. He was surrendered to animal control after he began to outgrow his restraint. Despite prior neglect, he is a friendly, easy-going boy with quite a bit of puppy left. So far, he likes every dog and person who he meets and is not shy about approaching for play, especially with dogs, plus he has backed away from conflict. As may be expected for a young dog, he is still learning appropriate boundaries for his mouth.

He came into the rescue with no idea about cars and needed help getting in. Now, he gives it a look just in case the door opens and eagerly hops in if it does. His tail wags a lot, and he has yet to growl or grumble. Collier is housebroken with a use of a dog door. When properly exercised, he does well in his crate at night and when people are away. Weighing around 75 lbs, he will probably gain 10-20 more as he matures.

On hikes, Collier has been joining the other dogs when they are off chasing squirrels, but he seems to be more interested in the chase than the critter. He has not been tested around any larger wildlife like bears and coyotes. He understands the basics of walking on leash, and he has been catching on with basic commands.

Indoors with his foster pack, Collier bounces between the male and female in an attempt to get one to play. Neither of them liked this at first, but his persistence and sweet nature won them over. He plays a good game of "mouths" nicely for as long as the other dogs will, but he backs down when they turn it into a more serious wrestling match.

Collier would love to find a home with another friendly dog, especially one who enjoys his youthful energy. He would also like people who include him in their outdoor activities. You should be okay with requirements of a puppyish dog, like exercising and socializing him and keeping your dirty laundry and nice shoes away from his mouth.

It is not known exactly how he does with cats, critters, and small dogs.
