This Mars, ya know like the chocolate bar. Mars is a 1 year old spayed female pure bred chocolate Labrador. Mars was bred to be a Border Control dog but failed the scent portion. Her hips are also not perfect. Since being with us she has not shown any signs of limping or lameness. She is strong and fit. Keeping her lean and supplementation will help keep this issue at bay.
She is incredibly sweet but spunky! Full of beans so will need an active family. We are looking for a family that is home more often than not. Mars requires a good run every day to expel her puppy energy and be a good girl all day. Mars' new home will have time to devote to continuing her Positive Reinforcement training that we have started. Mars is a very friendly girl with all dogs we have introduced her to. She walks very well off leash however still requires reinforcement to help keep her focused :)
She meets new people like a true Labrador a wiggle butt and happy smile. She is good with children however we are looking for a home with older children as she is a large higher energy pup who may knock toddlers over.
Mars is a very smart girl. She is very confident in most situations and just loves to explore. We want someone who will encourage her to do new things, and go every where with her family. Over the days of getting to know Mars we are learning that she takes very few repetitions for her to learn to new things. And for Mars, every thing is new! She is a very wonderful dog who has just found herself in a bad situation of needing a new home. History is she is a failed working dog as she couldn't focus for scent work. True lab ;)
We have taken Mars off-leash hiking and she has improved her recall in such a short period of time. When first coming to us she had her nose to the ground so required lots reinforcement but now through tons of repetitions checks in regularly.
Mars does need some leash work and other basics but is an amazing girlie so far.
Please read about our adoption process here
Mars' new home will be home more often than not or have a lot of free time. Older children. We operate using positive methods, which means we don't use prong collars, shock collars etc. Mars would even maybe love a Canine sibling. Since she is a still a young puppy she needs a good run to expel her energy. Mars will continue her training and need someone who can commit to taking her to classes. She is an amazing dog; very social with people and dogs small and large. Has met cats no issue.
She will need to be fed a high quality diet and of course a loving home. She truly is a typical happy lab who is also brilliant and so trainable! Would love a sport or working home!
(kerrysk9revolution@hotmail.com for an adoption application )
Mars' adoption fee is $400.00
Uo to date on vaccines and spayed.
Please no phone calls. Understand that we are a volunteer group that is quite small, so be patient with our process please. Mars has just come to us so we will give a fair amount of time to allow for applications. Thank you
