My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Due to state restrictions regarding out of state adoptions, we are not allowed to adopt to families with a Massachusetts or Rhode Island address.

Bowie is a 1 year old boxer mix. He is a happy, healthy boy who cannot wait for his forever family. He is still puppy-like and so very playful. Bowie's tail never stops wagging! Any family interested in him does need to take into consideration that he is a rescue and he didn't have a great life before he was accepted into our rescue. Bowie and his siblings were found abandoned by an elderly couple in their 90s when they were very small pups. They took the dogs home to their backyard to care for them. The small pups quickly grew into large pups and the elderly couple couldn't go outside and interact with them for fear of being knocked down. Instead of rehoming them at that time, they kept the dogs until they were 10-11 months old and then we were contacted by a concerned neighbor. Even though they fed and watered the dogs, they weren't able to play with them. By that time, it had been months since he had any human interaction and was terrified of everyone. His sisters adapted quickly and were adopted months ago. Bowie has come a very long way since first arriving at our rescue. He now loves to be petted, loved on, and played with and has become very affectionate. He is still nervous at times but he would really thrive in a home of his own with a family able to work with him. He needs patience and understanding but will love his family with all that he has - given the opportunity. He has never been aggressive, only very shy. He is house broken and crate trained. He gets along great with other dogs, cats, and children. He is currently being fostered in Mississippi and will be transported via All Paws transport services upon adoption. His adoption fee is $400 and includes neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, a nose to tail vet check, and transport costs.

Second Chances is a rescue organization based out of Pontotoc, Mississippi which adopts dogs and puppies all over the Northeastern United States. All of our dogs and puppies are kept in private foster homes in Mississippi until adopted. Our dogs are NEVER in a facility.
