Let's welcome Bowie to our BTRSS family (named after the late David Bowie)!

This 8 year old sweetie was left in a crate at the Gilchrist County Animal Shelter after hours. A local rescue in Gainesville got him out of the kill shelter and a wonderful Bullie Angel alerted us and rushed to pick him up. He has a microchip but it was tracked to a breeder they are unable to locate.

Bowie weighs a solid 61 lbs, but is very sweet and cuddly, and loves belly rubs and ear scratches. He eats very well and takes treats very gently. He walks pretty well on a leash, sometimes pulls but is correctable. He really just wants to be around his people and be part of the action.

Bowie is "talkative" and grumbly, and can be bossy when he is feeling ignored and wants your attention. Although he is OK with other dogs, we feel he would be happiest as an only dog so that all attention can be on him. He was non-reactive to cats at the shelter, but we are unsure how he would be with cats in the home. He would do best with kids older than 5 years old because of his size. Bowie is also fearful and wary of men, so we feel he would do best with a female adopter.

He has a mild heart murmur which is not of concern to our vet. He also has mild environmental allergies which is improving on a grain-free high protein diet. He has been neutered and will be fully vetted prior to adoption.
