Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Phoebe came from a hoarding situation. There were more than 40 dogs taken from a trailer house. When she came to us she had given birth to 4 healthy sweet babies. She is very shy but will bond and then she becomes a cuddle bug. She gets along with cats and dogs. She hasn't been tested much around young children as she tends to avoid them.
What we know about her former home. It was a trailer that was filled with dogs and yet you never heard one bark upon approach. Every time I saw the owner she was carrying a fly-swatter which she would pop on the side of the trailer upon entering. Phoebe is afraid of fly swatters so I SUSPECT the side of the trailer wasn't the only thing popped with the fly swatter. We suspect the owner was breeding the dogs for sale. We also suspect they were either crated or placed in a play pen 24 hours a day. She will head to her crate over the slightest thing, using it as the safe haven we meant for it be.
She has had very little loving care prior to foster care. Her nails were extremely long. She deserves a loving home with a patient pet parent who will work with her to help her with her anxiety.
All foster pets have seen a vet. Dog's adoption fee includes up-to-date shots, microchip ID implant, free rabies vaccine, and free mandatory spay/neuter. All dogs live in foster homes during the week like regular pets and work on socialization and manners. Many are from local animal controls so their housetraining history is unknown; puppies are all working on housetraining. Come meet our adoptable dogs during our adoption events each Saturday and Sunday afternoon at Lubbock Petsmart on Slide Road. Not every pet comes to every adoption event, so make sure and call or email if you want to meet a specific pet. Many pets are not yet listed on Petfinder.com.
