My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Nila is an almost 2 yr old brindle Dane/ Mastiff mix. She is as beautiful as she is sweet. However, she is submissively frightened and could benefit from a strong owner who will work with her, make her feel she is safe and other people and animals are have good intentions. Nila was surrendered because she was not getting along with the other female mastiff in her home. She could potentially be OK with a brother or sister BUT it would need to be the right fit and with a lot of work and guidance. Otherwise, she will be a perfect “love” to her family. She ADORES belly rubs and giving kisses. She is a little shy and needs human reassurance, love, attention and even some boundaries.
Nila came to MAGDRL in March (5).
Update 4-23
This sweet beauty loves to get her belly rubbed, hang-out with her humans, and is well behaved. She is however very dominant and not dog friendly. She MAY eventually adapt to the right dog with the help of a savvy owner to help her when she slips towards her “scared aggression”. She has done well with an active lab – but will not do well with any submissive or older mild dog. She is amazingly people friendly but takes a little (very little) time to warm up. She loves playing “freeze tag” with her kennel 6 and 8 year old little humans and isn’t a sore loser either
Nila is delightful, beautiful and will make a great addition to the right family.
Update 5/12/16
Woof* woof* My name is Nila, I'm one corky easy going girl. I find I'm the happiest when taken to the park and get to run around chasing or being chased by all my new little friends, my foster mom laughs when she sees a pug chasing a girl my size. I'm still not sure how I feel about dogs bigger than me because they are hard to come by. I'm also just as happy playing freeze tag with my foster parents. To me nothing feels better than the trill of a good chase, that's why you can find me chasing my own tale at times, one day...I'll get it! But most of the time I just love to be a snuggle bug and almost smother you with love. I have what my foster mom calls my "fat girl sit" where I hunch over and my legs are laying out and almost sit Indian style. I also love to lay under the coffee table, but sometimes I forget I'm under it a pop my head... My foster mom thinks I'm a klutz.
I must admit, I had my reserves making new friends at first especially when they came into a room. I use to have to have a conversation (sometimes it can be mistaken for growling) to get to know you and will come right over to you for a good pet. Now thanks to working with my foster mom I'm great at meeting new friends and can't wait going to the park!
