Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Updated bio. Cash (AKA "Cashio" or "Casio") is an adorable 3-4 year old, male Yorkie-Schnauzer mix (Snorkie). He weighs approximately 12 pounds. Cash’s adoption fee is $395 and includes all vetting (neuter, dental cleaning, immunizations, microchip and chip registration). A Vet reference, personal references, and home visit are required for adoption. You may apply to adopt Cash by going to our website at www.unitedyorkierescue.org and completing the adoption application located on our home page.
Cash somewhat resembles the famous movie-star dog, Benji, only a much smaller version. But that hasn't gone to his head; he is a sweet, loving, level-headed guy. Cash came to UYR this past week, when his second owner contacted us for help. Yes, second owner. L Cash's prior owner (an older man) gave him to the second owner because Cash was too energetic (he was, after all, only a puppy!) So, when he got to his second owner he was great with the family and older children. However, they soon learned that he did not like being in a home with a baby who was a growing toddler. Cash would bark and howl and did not like the quick movements of a young child. So, out of an abundance of caution, his second owner lovingly asked UYR to rehome him to a place where Cash would be happy, safe, and loved.
Cash has been in his foster home for only 4 days, but he is quickly fitting in. There are no children in his foster home, only fur-children and Cash gets along well with them. He would likely enjoy a home with another small or medium sized dog, but he would also do just fine as an "only child."
On the first day of his arrival, Cash was very unsure of what was happening - another new home??? He very was reluctant to warm up right away. His very deep bark was surprisingly intimidating at first. But within hours he got that out of his system and since then he has completely softened up and become a total teddy bear.
Cash enjoys following his foster parents around the house and he loves going on walks around the neighborhood. He is a little nervous around strangers. He can be a little vocal on his walks, but he is also an obedient boy and would make a nice little watchdog.
Cash appears to be potty-trained, although he did mark a couple times upon his arrival. Until he understands that marking is not proper behavior his foster parents have put a bellyband on him when he is in the house. That solved that problem! He is a snuggly guy, who enjoys taking a nap next to you. During the day he does like to stay active. He will walk around looking for something to entertain him. He is not at all hyper, just pretty inquisitive, so if you get up, he's up investigating your whereabouts.
Cash does appear to be crate-trained and does well on a leash and in a car. He would do great in a home with active adults who would be interested in a traveling companion or a wingman for day trips around town! Cash doesn't seem to be interested in toys yet, though it could be just a matter of time or maybe just finding the right toy.
Cash has been fully vaccinated and examined by the vet, who gave him a very good report. The only thing noted was a slight luxation in his right patella, which is very common in these small dogs, but nothing alarming. Since then he has been neutered and is currently recovering nicely. Cash is ready for his forever home now!
Do you think Cash could be the kind of guy that would fit into your house and your heart??? If so, please apply to adopt him!
