Hi! My name is Hank and I am about 2 years young. I am a very handsome blue/gray Staffordshire mix and I am a big boy weighing in at about 60 lbs. I was a stray rescued from the streets and when nobody claimed me, I was on the urgent list to be euthanized at the shelter. I got lucky when some sweet ladies got together and decided to rescue me with only minutes to spare. I am so grateful to them for taking care of me until I find a forever home.
I know you are thinking I look like a mean guy but I am big ‘ol sweetheart who loves to give kisses and hugs. I am learning and improving on my manners and learning to walk on the leash without pulling too much. I still need to work on that! Sorry, but I am not very fond of cats (they kind of look like furry meatballs to me) and I like to chase deer and livestock so you better keep me away from them also. I don’t mind other large dogs but don’t have a lot experience with other dogs. My foster mom has another male dog and he doesn’t want to be my friend and I don’t know why. I love water and am well behaved for baths and grooming. BUT I get really scared if you put me in a confined area like a crate and leave me alone because I keep thinking I will be left behind and you will never come back. The good news is I have never had an “accident” in the house so my foster mom says I am housetrained. I love to be outside, too! Oh, and I have been around a 2 year old little boy and I thought he was okay so I gave him a gentle kiss on the cheek. My foster mom said I did good! Did I mention how much she loves me?
I am neutered, up to date on my vaccinations and microchipped, but unfortunately because I had to live on the streets I am heartworm positive. I know it stinks but I am thankful that I will undergo treatment soon. I can still be adopted as long as my new family agrees to continue my treatment by keeping me calm until all those nasty worms are dead and gone. My new family also has to promise to give me medicine every month so I will never get them again!
