My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MAXINE, 2 -3y/o female Weimaraner mix. Maxine is a lovely Weimaraner with the cutest, high set ears that were no doubt introduced by a Grayhound or other breed at some point. Maxine is predominantly Weimaraner with long legs, a long tail, white spot on her chest - adorable! Maxine is a wonderful girl! She came to us very underweight and in just one week has gained about six pounds! It is obvious to us that Maxine was loved and well cared for, so it is puzzling how she ended up a stray and was not reclaimed at the shelter. It is our job now to give her the home she once had, only better! Maxine is a Weimaraner in true form, she loves to run and burn energy, and will chase cats and hunt birds if given the chance. She also likes to take long naps. Maxine's recall is good but if she is in pursuit of a bird, you have to be firm as you call her so she "hears" you! Maxine is pretty good on leash but needs more training, and she knows "Sit" and "Down". Her foster Dad is teaching her Fetch! and they are making some progress (she will run after the ball, pick it up and sometimes she'll bring it back!) Like most Weimaraners, she is treat motivated, so training her will be a positive experience. Maxine sleeps quietly in her crate at night and is house trained. She loves going on car rides and getting out to new places (even the vet clinic was exciting for her!) Maxine enjoys the dog park and will roll on her back if another dog is over zealous about establishing dominance. She has been such a good girl with her foster parent, having never met him of course, and she patiently stood still while getting bathed at a groomer's. Maxine did not pay any mind to two young kids at the dog park, but we cannot place her in a home with kids without knowing her past experience with them. What we do know is that Maxine is a catch! She is very loving, loyal, and has every intention to please. Maxine is spayed, current on vaccines, heart worm negative, and micro-chipped. In Atwater.
