Ruthie and Lulu are a bonded pair of beagle mixes that are looking for a family to give them a fresh start in life. Both girls are very sweet and easygoing, with mellow personalities. They are 100% house trained, crate trained, and have good house manners. Sadly, through no fault of their own, they both spent several years in a shelter, living in a very small space. But now, they are in a loving foster home and learning how to enjoy a more normal life. Because they are best friends, having spent some tough times together, and are relying upon each other in their transition to family life, we are seeking to place them together.
MORE ON RUTHIE:
Ruthie is a 6-year-old beagle, weighing about 20 pounds. She is the more outgoing of the pair and enjoys attention.
She will flip on her back for a belly rub, and enjoys sitting on her foster mom’s lap. She would sleep cuddled right next to you in bed if allowed! She also loves to walk outside and is great walking on a leash. She also enjoys playing with other dogs. Ruthie will make a faithful and devoted companion.
MORE ON LULU:
Lulu is 4 year-old mix with beagle and short-haired pointer characteristics. She weighs in at 40 pounds and is very shy. Lulu’s foster Mom is working with her to build her confidence, both around the house and outside. Like Ruthie, Lulu loves going on walks and will do her “happy dance” when she knows it’s time to go out.
Another thing that makes Lulu happy is chewing on a treat-filled Kong, a squeaky toy, or a tennis ball. Lulu gladly accepts hugs and petting and rubbing behind her ears. A patient owner, who will give her plenty of time to join the family at her own pace, will bring out the best in Lulu. The reward will be to see her come out of her shell and take her place in the family as a loyal and happy friend.
Since Ruthie and Lulu are breeds who love to run off and explore, they must always be on a leash or in a securely-fenced yard. Both of them enjoy going out into the yard in the evening. They would do best in a quiet home with someone who will let them take the time they need to get comfortable in a new place. Another dog in the home would be fine, and might be a bonus as a “role model” for them. We do not know their history with children, so we recommend that any kids in their new home be older than 10.
Both girls are healthy, spayed, up to date on vaccines, heartworm tested, and microchipped. Please email us with any inquires at baystatedogs@yahoo.com or submit an application which can be found on our website.
