Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Maggie is on medical hold being treated for an ear infection. That means that you are welcome to apply to meet her, but she can't go to her forever home until her ear infection has cleared up and she is spayed.
Please do not click the adopt me Button. If you're interested in meeting this dog, please go to our website at angelsonwheels.org to complete the on-line adoption application.
Although we make the best guess on the breed and size of our dogs, because they come from shelters or are strays, we can never be completely certain of the genetic makeup of the dog. All we can tell you for sure is that they are 100% RESCUED! If an animal is still posted for adoption, he/she is still available. If you see this post, she is available for adoption so there is no need to email us for availability.
Meet Maggie, she he is a super friendly 5 year old lab mix. She weighs about 60 pounds, and she is all sweetness. Maggie is crate trained, however she likes to go in her crate, but prefers the door open. She will cry if you close the door. She is housetrained, and walks ok on a leash. She is a total people dog and wants to be where ever her people are. She is great with men, women, there are young teen children in the foster home so we don't know about small children. With respectful children, we have no doubt she would be wonderful.
Her current foster is gone for work for about 6 hours a day and Maggie is fine being left home alone for that amount of time. Maggie is a true companion dog and is a shadow, which means she follows her foster around everywhere. We do not feel she would do well being left alone for more than 6 or 7 hours. Maggie wouldn't be happy since she is a really a people dog. She is not a destructive chewer, we have never seen any guarding or aggression. She is a total lap dog. She is fine with kitties, and although we were told she is good with other dogs from her foster in Kentucky, the current foster doesn't have any other dogs. Maggie is really one dog you will want to meet. She is that loving and fabulous!
Maggie was an owner surrender. Her family had some medical issues going on in the family and a divorce. You can see from this girl's personality that they clearly loved her. When we agreed to take Maggie, as it turned out she was heartworm positive. The family offered to pay for her treatment which was done prior to Maggie arriving to us in late March. When we took her to our vet for her microfilaria test, which is done after heartworm treatment, she had a large amount of microfilaria so our vet did a special shot to kill them. All dogs should be on heartworm preventative all year long to prevent heartworm disease as it's spread through the bite of a mosquitoes. It's especially important that a dog who has been treated for heartworm remain on it for 6 months after treatment.
If you would like to meet Maggie, please fill out the on-line adoption application at www.angelsonwheels.org and the foster will be in touch within 7 days once the application is processed and if approved! Keep in mind that there may be multiple applicants applying for the same animal(s). It's advised to submit an application immediately if you're interested in meeting this pet. Emails will slow down the process, and while you are awaiting an email response, which can take several days, we may get applications.
Submitting an application does not commit you to any animal, but is required prior to making arrangements for a meet and greet as all of our animals are cared for in homes. We can't schedule meet and greets until the application is submitted and approved. We don't have a building so there are no viewing hours. All of our animals are cared for in foster homes by wonderful families who volunteer their time to save these precious souls.
The adoption fee is $300 and includes:
Her spay once she is cleared of her ear infection
Microfilaria test (done twice)
Shot to kill the microfilaria as the count was high,
Tested the tick transmitted Lyme Disease which was negative,
Tested for the tick transmitted disease Ehrlichiosis which was negative,
Tested for tick transmitted disease Anaplasmosis which was negative,
Rabies vaccination,
DHPP vaccination,
Microchip,
Treated with monthly frontline plus while in our care or Revolution
Given monthly heartguard while in our care, or Revolution
Dewormed with Panacur,

1st vet visit is free if through one of our participating vets.
We must have an application, sometimes a home visit, references checked including the vet of current and/or past cats and/or dogs, to approve an application. At the meet and greet, we will need to meet all members of the family including any four legged doggies in your home to assure everyone gets alone. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.
