Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is what Jewel's foster mama had to say about her:
This is Jewel. She's a Boxer/Pit Bull mix. She's a little over one year old; spayed; fully vaccinated, and healthy.
I've had her for a month & a half, and the following is what I've learned about her so far.
She lives w/ me, my two other dogs and my two cats. She gets along well with my dogs: she goes on walks with them, sleeps with them and is eager to play. She's tolerant of my older cat but isn't fond of my younger cat. Based on that, I believe she can live with cats but it depends on the personality & temperament of the cat(s).
Since she's been with me, she hasn't been around other dogs much except for dogs that she's seen at the vet and my sister's dog, a Pekingese. She also sees dogs when we walk, but she has no interaction with them. Based on her reaction to dogs, I'm thinking she may be dog-selective, so a meet & greet is definitely necessary. But like I said, she gets along with my dogs quite well, especially my female Pit Bull.
She's exceptionally people-friendly. Everyday on our walks people want to meet her and she gets all wiggly and licky 😋. The staff at my vet hospital love her! Definitely a people-dog.
Jewel loves to snuggle, typical of pitties; she needs to lay next you or sit next you, touching you all the time.
She's sensitive to the tone of your voice, also typical of pitties.
She's a smart girl & my guess is that she was someone's dog, because she knows basic commands like "sit", "stay", "lay", and she knows how to give paw & shake.
Jewel is also easily redirected; she's very attentive to her handler.
One good thing about adopting a dog who's already been fostered is that the stress that they were feeling from the kennel is no longer there, and they've been reacclimatized to a home.
So they're ready for their FOREVER home.
Please share or ask questions!
I've been detailed here so that someone knows exactly what they're getting.
The worse thing you can do for an animal who needs a home is paint a picture that's not accurate...and cause a dog to go back to rescue.
