Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi! My name is Cooper! I was recently rescued from a very unpleasant situation. I was born in a puppy mill 2 years ago and then purchased as a puppy. I went to live with a young man who then lost his apartment and had to give me back to the breeder while he hunted for a new apartment that allowed dogs. Well, after spending 3 months back in the puppy mill, he finally gave up and allowed me to go to Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue! I got to be all cleaned up (I had gotten very dirty and matted living back in a cage), and am so happy living back in a house with a nice fenced yard to run and play in and a bunch of other bichons as play mates! My foster mom wants me to go to a home with another small, young, playful dog and a fenced yard because she sees how happy I am in the setting I have here and wants to make sure I get to keep this freedom to run in the safety of a fenced yard and that I always have a play buddy since I'm such a playful guy! I also am a cuddle bug. I just LOVE people and snuggling with them. Love to have my tummy rubbed especially! I also love toys. I like to toss them up in the air and jump straight up in the air to catch them. My foster parents think I'm a super cool dog. They wish they could just keep me, but they already have 7 forever dogs, which is a LOT! Whoever adopts me is going to be very lucky because I am just going to love you to pieces!!!!!
I've been neutered, micro-chipped, heartworm tested (negative), dewormed, brought up to date on vaccinations, and even had my teeth cleaned (they weren't all that dirty since I'm only 2 years old, but since I was put under for the neuter, they did my teeth too). I'm being fostered in Barneveld, WI, and my adoption fee is $350. If you're interested in adopting me, please email Margaret at loveforbichons@gmail.com to request an application.
The adoption process with Safe Haven Bichon and Friends Rescue includes an application, reference checks, and a home visit. We do not send dogs on planes or long transports with strangers, so adopters need to come to the foster home to do the adoption.
