My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Shamrock is a Hahn's, or red-shouldered, mini macaw. Shamrock is reportedly 12-years-old and female, but we have no proof of age or sex. She is very vocal, non-destructive, and friendly when patiently allowed to warm up to you. She is protective of the person she chooses to be "her person" and can be territorial of her person when sitting with/on them, but with some gentle coaxing, she will go to anyone and enjoys head and under-wing scratches from everybody. Shamrock says a few words and phrases, and makes a few sound effects like "kisses" and dripping water sounds. She is rarely quiet in daytime hours, but usually isn't loud. She just loves her voice, I say! :)

Shamrock is gentle with older children, but will bite, as all parrots do. She is territorial of her cage and will bite even her most favorite person when they reach into her cage, but she's a sweetheart once she's out. Due to her territorial biting, we prefer a home with no small children who may put fingers inside her cage and get bitten.

Shamrock's adoption fee is $400, which includes her large, nice cage and all the toys and perches she has. An adoption application, adoption contract and home visit are required.
