My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Georgia is a 5-6 year old English Bulldog/Boxer mix who is truly a peach! She is white with a perfect "freckle" centered on the top of her head. She was originally seized as part of a cruelty case from a north Florida puppy mill in December 2006. While there, Georgia shared a kennel with multiple dogs, day in and day out, where they were fed, bred, and pottied in the kennels. With no way out of the kennels, Georgia and many of the other dogs had urine burns on their feet when they first entered rescue.

Due to the above neglect and likely physical abuse, Georgia’s trust has to be earned. Once one gains her trust, however, soon to follow are her seemingly endless affection, loyalty, and playfulness. Her love is rewarding because you know it is genuine and isn’t just given to anybody who comes along. She can barely contain her excitement when her human friend gets home, even if only gone for an hour, and she would likely give kisses forever if she could. Although she is gentle, if not passive, with strangers, Georgia has limited social skills when it comes to other dogs. Consequently, Georgia would do best as an only dog so she can enjoy all of the attention from her special human and could return the favor. If Georgia were placed in a home with other dogs, her new human companion would need to be attentive and should be prepared to calmly, but quickly, prevent any conflicts that may arise.

Georgia is built like a bulldog, with short legs and a broad chest, but she has the wiggle of a boxer and can leap just as high when she’s excited. She walks well on a leash and weighs about 50 lbs., but could use to shed a few pounds to better suit her size and health. She has had a recurring back problem, but it surfaces infrequently enough that it is only necessary to have an inexpensive medication on hand to get her through 1-3 days of pain or discomfort. She enjoys long walks, playing with toys, sitting for treats, and cuddling whenever she can. She is crate trained and housebroken, knows not to beg for food, and is happy to just hang out with her human company whenever she can. Georgia is being fostered by Robert in Gainesville.
