Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Leander is a wonderful and sweet little tri-paw boy looking for a loving home. He is 7 months old, around 20 lbs and growing, and he is neutered and current on vaccinations and heartworm treatments. He is being lovingly fostered in Seattle.
Leander was found badly injured on the side of the road. He obviously went through a lot in his first few months, including having his right front leg amputated, but he hasn’t let any of that slow him down. He’s overcome it all like a champ to become an incredibly affectionate and adorable little pup.
Leander’s joy in life is spending time with his humans – he will follow you around the house like a little shadow, and loves nothing more than plopping down on top of your feet or falling asleep in your lap. He is such a cuddly little guy, and will happily curl up to snuggle on the floor, couch or bed.
Leander currently lives with 2 equal sized dogs and LOVES to play. He runs like the wind and loves to chase, be chased and play tug of war.
He is learning to sit, and is generally very polite and quiet in the house, only barking happily when he hears you outside the door.
When left by himself, Leander does have some separation anxiety in the form of whining and crying, but he hasn’t shown any destructive behavior. Although he has a crate, Leander doesn’t particularly enjoy being in it. He prefers to sleep with his humans, in the same room (and if he has his way, in the same bed).
While outside, he sometimes gets scared by cars and trucks driving past, but he is great on the leash, and happily trots along without pulling. He likes meeting new people on walks, including kids, and will let anyone pet him and say hi. Leander is fairly well house-trained and has learned to go outside although will go on a pee pad when left for long periods of time.
With his missing leg, Leander sometimes has a little trouble going down stairs or traversing uneven terrain. He can’t always move along as quickly as other dogs, but he never lets that stop him from happily hopping and bouncing around the house like a mini Tigger!
UPDATE FROM FOSTER:
Leander is such a sweet, gentle, snuggly boy, that every potential adopter who meets him will fall in love. He has completely settled in to life at our house and his manners are steadily improving. He now will "sit" and "stay" before devouring his food and has learned that he is not supposed to eat from the other guys' bowls. He and our guys wrestle and play like maniacs; everyone sleeps long and sound through the night. :)
Leander's adoption fee is $300. Love A Mutt Pet Rescue is a 501c3 public charity and all monies go to help dogs in need.
Thank you so much for considering a rescue!
