This is Miss Lucy (Lu Lu), a former puppy mill girl. She is approximately 9 years old and weighs in at 9lbs.
Given Lucy's background, it takes her some time to warm up and be comfortable with new people and situations, but once she does, her personality shines. She has been in her foster home for several weeks and has blossomed from an extremely inactive, timid girl to a very animated, bubbly and happy dog. She hasn't retreated to the crate for over 2 weeks. She has gorgeous big black eyes, a beautiful face and a thick coat.
She is mostly housebroken if you get her outside on a consistent basis. Miss Lucy does great with other non-aggressive small dogs and would probably do best, if she has to be left alone for a period of time, with another dog. She would prefer her human(s) to be home with her though.
She loves to sit next to you on a chair or couch and has even started to play with toys! She has been sleeping on the bed in her foster home and sleeps through the entire night without a peep. She even smiles and paws at the gate when her foster mom comes home from work.
Lucy would do best with someone who could be home with her most of the time as she so wants to just be petted and loved, something she missed out on for the first 8 years of her life. If you have the time and patience to let her get comfortable, you won't regret bringing her into your home. For now, Miss Lucy is being loved in Herndon, VA.
