KAIRI was rescued from Memphis Animal Services and during the three day holding period for a stray he was attacked by another dog. Kairi has had reparative surgery on his left front leg and is doing great. He is only 10-12 months old, loves other dogs (big or small, he is housebroken/crate trained and is great with children of all ages. Kairi has not been cat tested yet. We will complete that after he is given the green light by the Vet to resume normal activity.
UPDATE: Kairi is just a lovebug! He is a big cuddler, his splint will be removed January 9th and as long as the Vet gives him the go ahead he will be able to resume normal exercise and activity. His foster Mom says Kairi dreams of running. When he’s asleep he moves his splint and legs like he is running.
DONATIONS: The rescue has incurred two weeks of boarding and a costly surgery to save Kairi. So far his boarding, surgery and all the vetting below that has all been completed has cost the rescue $920.00. We are still trying to pay off $420.00 of the bill. If you cannot become Kairi’s forever home, but would like to contribute to his care you can either paypal a donation to http://hoganshhtexassiberians.chipin.com/kairi-siberian-husky-surgery. Or you can make a donation directly to the vet bill at Memphis Animal Clinic by mailing a check to 733 East Parkway South, Memphis, TN 38104 or calling in a donation to 901-272-7411 . Thank you for any assistance, it is much appreciated!
All of our rescues are temperament tested around children of all ages, small and large dogs and cats. They all have basic training, IE; sit; down, come and walking on a lead. We are not a shelter, we are a rescue and all of our rescued dogs are kept in individual foster/volunteers homes. This gives them sometimes their first taste of having a family and being part of that family. Also, it provides us with the understanding of each individual rescue to match them to your family lifestyle and dynamics. As soon as we receive your application back, we will phone you to set up a home visit/meet & greet. If you are out of our area, we would request another rescue and/or veterinary office complete the home visit.
Also, completed prior to adoptions are heartworm treaments as needed, any medical conditions treated (IE; allergies, demedex, etc.) and any surgeries for dogs coming into rescue injured (IE; car accidents, etc.). Below is the vetting that all of our rescues receive prior to adoption.
