Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pete is currently in a foster home and can either be seen at the shelter Saturdays from 9 AM to 1 PM or an appointment could be arranged through email at his foster home.
Pete's foster mom describes Pete as follows:
I would characterize him as a special needs dog. We don’t know much about his background. He came to us from a kill shelter in Kansas City. I’d sure love to know his story.
He’s a nice little dog but does have some issues. We’ve had him in our home for 3 weeks and are figuring out what some of them are. I wouldn’t trust him around children. He gets along with the 4 dogs in our own pack and our 2 cats. He likes to play and go for walks and is very food motivated. He takes a bit to warm up and is a bit shy when first meeting people. He has reacted very negatively to 4 out 5 young men (18-22 years) that he’s been around. He also doesn’t like people faces near his. He seems very stiff and doesn’t like to be moved once he’s comfortable – he gets very snappy and snarly about all of these things. We are going to take him to the vet this week to see if he has some underlying pain issues that are making him extra irritable.
In between these issues he is a very nice, well-behaved dog. He can walk off leash, comes when called, fetches, sits. He likes to cuddle with us and clearly likes people. As he gets used to us and vice versa there are fewer snappy, snarly moments. When he gets snappy and snarly with us he immediately sorry and curls up in a sad little ball. I really feel for this little guy and hope we can find someone who is willing to work with him with lots of patience and love.
