Luna is a beautiful, young Husky girl who was in a shelter prior to coming to SHRF.
She gets along well with other dogs and is very sweet and affectionate with humans. Luna guards her food bowl from other dogs; even if she’s done and there is some food left she will lie in front of the bowl just to make sure no other dog gets any. She will give a little warning bark if other dogs approach. We recommend care should be taken by feeding separately or under supervision. She is quite the dainty eater, eating one kibble at a time, sometimes by taking it out of her bowl first. She is also protective of her toys with other dogs and does not like to share. However she has not shown any food or toy guarding with people.
Luna walks well on lead until she catches a glimpse of a squirrel, cat, lizard or other small animal; then her prey drive kicks in so hold on. She does need to work on her house manners in the kitchen as she is a counter surfer. Until she learns that is a no-no leave the rib roast at the edge of the counter at your own risk.
Luna has had some obedience training as she knows the "sit" and "paw" commands. She enjoys jumping up, wrapping her paws around you to give you a big Husky hug. Even though she enjoys meeting new people, she will need some work on learning that not everyone wants her Husky hugs. Luna is a snuggler who thinks she is a lap dog as she will climb up into your lap for attention. If you stop petting her, be aware of her Husky paws as you may get swatted if she doesn't feel that you should have stopped.
Luna is crate trained and doesn't mind spending time in there if needed but she really enjoys being close to her humans as much as possible. She enjoys destroying her stuffed toys, mostly trying to get at the squeaker; so be prepared for an explosion of fluff. Luna is housebroken and will go to the door to let you know she needs to go out.
