Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Gus is a 16 pound, 4.5 year old cream Pekingese. He was originally found as a stray by a local vet clinic (we think he was dumped because of his medical issues). His left eye had an ulcer, his ears had bacterial as well as yeast infection and he had a large hotspot on his side. Everything is healed and Gus is healthy; however, Gus has inhaled allergies (not food allergies) so he needs to be on medicine for that (apoquel). He also has reoccurring ear infections that the adopter would need to be aware of. Otherwise Gus is fine and a typical Pekingese...he loves attention and his face scratched, adores walks and waddles along at a pace perfect for someone who needs a walking partner but doesn't want to be drug around by an active dog. Gus is fine with other dogs and cats and does well on housebreaking if taken out on a frequent schedule. He is also crate trained, adores treats (!!!)and is very low maintenance. As a small dog, Gus would be better suited for quieter families with no small children as sometimes he can get grumpy (hence his name "Grumpy Gus"). If you are interested in adopting Gus and can provide him the perfect indoor forever home with care for his allergies, you can download an adoption application at www.caresga.org. $250 adoption fee plus additional donation (goes toward his vetting that is much higher than his adoption fee), application approval and vet reference is required. We adopt up North and all over the US so please contact us at info.caresga@gmail.com for details. Continue reading to see everything included with your adoption:
Adoption fees for puppies are $300, adults dogs are $250 and senior dogs are $150. This includes each animal being current on age appropriate vaccinations including DHPPL, bordetella and rabies, de-wormed for any internal parasites (round worms, hook worms, tape worms and whipworms), tested heart-worm negative (if positive, they are treated), tested negative for tick borne diseases, spayed/neutered, implanted with a mini micro-chip and have been examined by a veterinarian to certify that they are healthy. All animals are also on a monthly regime of flea and heartworm medication. Lifetime registration for the micro-chip as well as 30 days of free pet insurance is also included in each adoption fee. In addition, each adopter will go home with a fitted collar, tags, a bag of dog food the pet has been on, Forti-Flora, and an adoption kit filled with valuable information and coupons as well as other various treats or toys as promotions become available. All puppy adoptions include a puppy training book, the Puppy Primer by Patricia McConnell, to help ensure a smooth transition for your new family member.
We ask that you consider an additional donation on top of this pet's adoption fee. This money will go directly into our Adoption Fund to be used exclusively for rescuing and caring for other pets in need. Many pets we take in have very high vet bills to get them healthy and adoptable for the public - much higher than their adoption fees. We receive no government funding and rely solely on donations from our community and caring adopters to continue our rescue efforts!
